No EDDCAN in mail after interview - can't access UI Online or certify for benefits

I had my eligibility phone interview with EDD on March 12, 2025 (about 3 weeks ago), and the interviewer told me my claim was approved. She said I would receive a packet in the mail within 10-14 days containing my EDDCAN (EDD Customer Account Number) which I need to register for UI Online and start certifying for benefits. It's been over 3 weeks now and NOTHING has arrived in my mailbox! I'm getting really anxious because I can't login to UI Online without this number, can't certify for any weeks, and have no idea if payments are being processed or if there's some issue with my claim. I've tried calling EDD at least 15 times but keep getting the 'too many callers' message and getting disconnected. Has anyone else had this problem with missing mail? How can I get my EDDCAN or find out what's happening with my claim if I can't get through on the phone?

I had this exact same problem in January! It's SO frustrating. The EDD is seriously a mess right now with their mailing system. My paperwork took almost 5 weeks to arrive even though they told me 2 weeks max. If you have your social security number and the date you filed your initial claim, you can try calling the automated self-service line at 1-866-333-4606. Sometimes you can get your EDDCAN that way without talking to a human.

Thanks for the tip about the self-service line. I tried it but got stuck in a weird loop asking for information I don't have yet. Did you just wait the full 5 weeks or did you try something else?

You have a few options here: 1. Keep trying to call early in the morning (8:00 AM exactly) or right before lunch (11:45 AM) when call volumes sometimes drop. 2. Visit an EDD office in person if possible - bring your ID and they can look up your EDDCAN for you. 3. Check if you received ANY mail from EDD - sometimes your EDDCAN appears on other correspondence like your Notice of Unemployment Insurance Award (DE 429Z). 4. Try registering for UI Online using just your SSN, name, and DOB - some people have reported success with this method even without their EDDCAN. 5. If you received your EDD debit card from Money Network, sometimes customer service can verify your identity and provide information. Don't worry about missed certifications yet - you can backdate them once you get access. But you should try to resolve this within the next week to stay within timelines.

Thank you for these detailed options! I haven't received ANY mail from EDD yet, not even the Award Notice. I tried registering with just my SSN but it specifically asks for the EDDCAN. I'll try the phone calling strategy at the times you mentioned and look into the nearest in-person office.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! The EDD is CRIMINALLY INCOMPETENT with their mail system! I waited SIX WEEKS and nothing ever came, and then I found out they had been sending everything to my old address from 3 years ago even though I gave them my current address multiple times!!!! Check your address on file if you can ever get through to someone. This is why so many people end up homeless while waiting for their benefits!!!

After dealing with the EDD phone nightmare for weeks trying to get my EDDCAN, I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual EDD representative in less than 30 minutes! It basically calls EDD for you and then calls you back when it gets through. I was skeptical but it worked - the rep looked up my EDDCAN on the spot and I was able to certify for all my back weeks that same day. Saved me so much stress. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and the site is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

I've never heard of this service before. Did you have to wait long? I'm desperate at this point so I'll try anything that might actually work.

It took about 25 minutes for me to get the callback. The EDD rep looked up my EDDCAN, confirmed my identity, and helped me set up my UI Online account right then. I was able to certify for 3 weeks of back benefits during that same call.

I work at a career center and see this issue frequently. Here's what usually works: 1. Your EDDCAN should be on ANY correspondence from EDD - check the upper right corner of any letter you've received. 2. If you truly haven't received any mail, it could be that your address has an error in the system or your mail was lost. 3. Try this UI Online registration workaround: Select "Register using your EDD Customer Account Number" but then on the next page look for the small link that says "Register without an EDD Customer Account Number" - this option exists but is easy to miss. 4. If that doesn't work, you can request a new EDDCAN letter by sending a secure message through AskEDD (https://askedd.edd.ca.gov/) - select "Unemployment Insurance Benefits" as the category, then "Account Management" as the subcategory, and then "Replace EDD Customer Account Number" as the topic. 5. As a last resort, visiting an in-person office really is the fastest solution right now due to mail delays.

Thank you for these detailed options! I looked at the UI Online registration page again and you're right - there is a tiny link for registering without the EDDCAN that I completely missed. I'll try that right now and also submit that AskEDD request as backup.

My brother had this exact issue last year and it turns out his mail was being held at the post office for some reason! Have you checked with USPS to make sure there's no delivery issue on their end? Sometimes EDD mail gets flagged weird in their system.

Update: I GOT IN!!! I tried the "Register without an EDD Customer Account Number" link that @careerhelper mentioned and it actually worked! I had to answer a bunch of identity verification questions but I'm now in my UI Online account. I can see that my claim is active and I have 3 weeks of certifications pending. Thank you all SO MUCH for your help with this!

Great news! Make sure you certify for those weeks right away. And for future reference, your EDDCAN should now be visible somewhere in your UI Online account settings. Save that number in case you need it later.

Excellent! Just a heads-up - those certifications will likely show as "pending" for a few days since they're retroactive. If they don't switch to "paid" within 5-7 days, you might need to call to have them released. But hopefully, everything will process automatically now that you're in the system.

This is such a relief to see resolved! I'm going through the exact same issue right now - had my interview 2 weeks ago and still no mail. I've been panicking thinking something went wrong with my claim. The "Register without EDD Customer Account Number" option is a game changer - I had no idea that existed! Going to try this right now. Thanks for sharing your update and thanks to everyone who provided such helpful advice in this thread!

I'm so glad this thread helped you too! I was honestly starting to think my claim got lost in the system or something. The whole EDD process is already stressful enough without having to worry about missing mail. Definitely try that registration workaround - it saved me weeks of waiting and calling. Good luck with your certification!

This whole thread is exactly why I tell people to screenshot or write down EVERYTHING during their EDD interview calls! The reps sometimes forget to mention important details about timelines or backup options. For anyone else reading this - if you're still waiting for mail after 3+ weeks, don't just sit there stressing about it. There are always workarounds like the registration method that worked for the OP. Also, pro tip: if you do eventually get your EDDCAN in the mail, it's usually printed in a small font in the upper right corner of the letter, not prominently displayed. I almost threw mine away thinking it was just another form letter!

This is such great advice about documenting everything! I wish I had known about the screenshot tip before my interview. The rep spoke so fast and I was just focused on answering her questions correctly. And you're absolutely right about the EDDCAN placement - when I finally got access to my account, I could see my number buried in small text. It's almost like they don't want people to find it easily! For anyone else going through this, definitely save this thread - there are so many useful workarounds here that EDD reps don't typically mention.

I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now! Had my interview 3 weeks ago, was told everything was approved, and still no mail whatsoever. I've been calling every single day and can never get through - it's beyond frustrating. Reading through all these responses gives me hope that there are actually solutions. I'm definitely going to try that "Register without EDD Customer Account Number" option that worked for @Ava Johnson. It's crazy how they hide these workarounds and don't tell you about them during the interview. The whole system seems designed to make it as difficult as possible to actually get your benefits. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions - this thread is more helpful than anything I've gotten from EDD directly!

I totally feel your frustration! I went through something similar last month and it's maddening how they don't mention these workarounds during the interview process. The "Register without EDD Customer Account Number" option really is a lifesaver - I can't believe they bury it so deep in the registration flow. Also, if that doesn't work for some reason, definitely try the AskEDD secure message option that @Keisha Williams mentioned. It took about 4-5 days but they did respond with helpful information. The whole EDD system feels like a maze sometimes, but don t'give up! There are ways around these roadblocks once you know where to look. Fingers crossed you get access to your account soon!

I'm currently going through this nightmare too! Had my interview 4 weeks ago and still haven't received anything in the mail. The stress of not knowing if my claim is processing or if I'm missing important deadlines is eating me alive. Reading through all these solutions gives me so much hope though - especially the "Register without EDD Customer Account Number" trick that saved @Ava Johnson. I had no clue that option even existed! It's honestly ridiculous that EDD doesn't mention any of these workarounds during the interview process. You'd think they'd want to make it easier for people to access their benefits, not harder. Going to try the registration workaround right now and also submit that AskEDD request as backup. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences - this community is way more helpful than EDD customer service!
