EDD Customer Account Number missing - can't access my claim!

I just got approved for unemployment last week and I'm trying to set up my UI Online account, but I can't find my EDD Customer Account Number anywhere! I've checked all my emails, letters, and even my spam folder. I remember they said something about mailing it to me, but it's been 12 days and nothing has shown up. I need to certify this Sunday and I'm freaking out. Has anyone been in this situation before? Is there any way to get my account number without waiting for this mysterious letter? I've tried calling but just get the automated system that wants me to enter the number I don't have! Help!!

same thing happened 2 me. took almost 3 weeks 4 that letter 2 come. check ur mail carefully cuz it looks like junk mail sometimes

3 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long, I need to certify this weekend! Did you miss your certification because of this?

You have a few options to get your EDD Customer Account Number without waiting for the mail: 1. Check any previous EDD correspondence - it appears on most letters they send. 2. If you've previously filed for UI, check old documents as your number remains the same. 3. If you've received any text messages from EDD, sometimes they include partial account info. 4. You can actually certify by phone using the Tele-Cert system at 1-866-333-4606 without needing your account number. 5. As a last resort, you'll need to speak with an EDD representative directly to verify your identity and get your number.

Thank you! I've never filed before so no old docs. I'll try the Tele-Cert system, but does that still work if I've never certified before? I'm worried they might need my account number for that too.

why does EDD make everything SO COMPLICATED?? it's like they don't WANT us to get benefits we're entitled to!! i had the same issue last year and ended up missing my first certification because of their stupid system. you'd think they could just EMAIL the account number in 2025 but NOOOO they have to mail everything like it's 1995!!!

I know it's frustrating, but they mail account numbers as a security measure to prevent identity theft. Email isn't secure enough for sensitive information like that. But they definitely could improve their systems overall.

I work as a job counselor and help people with EDD issues frequently. If you need your Customer Account Number quickly, the most reliable method is speaking directly with an EDD representative. However, getting through on the phone can be extremely difficult with the regular number. I've had several clients successfully use Claimyr to get through to EDD quickly. It's a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and connects you to an actual EDD agent who can verify your identity and provide your account number. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or go to claimyr.com. Many of my clients have saved days or weeks of waiting by getting their account number this way. Alternatively, if you received a text from EDD about your claim approval, sometimes that includes instructions with partial information. Also, contrary to what some believe, you CAN create your UI Online account after your first certification period - you won't lose benefits by certifying a bit late.

Has anyone actually tried this Claimyr thing? Sounds too good to be true honestly... the EDD phone system is a nightmare.

I used it last month when my claim was stuck in pending for weeks. Got through to someone in about 20 mins when I had been trying for days on my own. Worth it for me because I was about to miss rent.

One important thing to know: You actually have a 14-day window to complete each certification, not just the weekend they assign you. So even if you get your account number a few days late, you can still certify without losing any benefits. Don't panic if you miss the exact assigned certification date! Also, if you received an award letter with your weekly benefit amount, sometimes the Customer Account Number is printed at the top of that document. Check any paperwork from EDD carefully - the number format is typically something like XXX-XXXX-XXX.

Thank you, that makes me feel better about not missing benefits. I did get an award letter but it only had my name and address at the top, no account number anywhere. I've checked it several times. Is it possible they forgot to include it??

also check ur drivers license and ur last 4 social sometimes they use that info for temp login

Wait really? That would be amazing! Where do I enter that info? On the UI Online login page?

That's not quite right - you need your EDD Customer Account Number for initial registration. The drivers license and last 4 of SSN are additional verification pieces needed AFTER you have the account number. Please don't confuse the process.

I had this exact problem back in February! What I discovered is that sometimes the letter with your account number gets mailed separately from your award letter and can take an extra week. When mine finally arrived, it was in a very plain envelope that I almost threw away thinking it was junk mail. Check your mailbox carefully the next few days!

Update: I took the advice about calling EDD and tried for two days with no luck. Then I tried the Claimyr service someone mentioned above and actually got through to a representative! They verified my identity and gave me my Customer Account Number over the phone. I was able to set up my UI Online account and complete my certification in time. Thank you everyone for your help! For anyone else with this problem, definitely check all your mail carefully (including what looks like junk mail), but if you're getting close to your certification deadline, speaking with a representative directly is the fastest solution.

Great to hear you got it resolved! Just a tip for the future - save your Customer Account Number somewhere secure but accessible. You'll need it again if you ever need to reset your password or access your account from a new device.

So glad you got this sorted out! I've been following your thread because I'm waiting for my account number too. Quick question - how long did it take to get connected through that service? I'm supposed to certify tomorrow and still haven't received my letter.

@Anastasia Popov It took about 25 minutes to get connected through Claimyr - much faster than I expected! Since you need to certify tomorrow, I d'definitely recommend trying it. The rep was really helpful and had my account number within 2 minutes once I got through. Just have your SSN and some basic info ready for identity verification. Good luck!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Filed my claim two weeks ago, got approved, but still no letter with my account number. This thread has been super helpful - I had no idea about the 14-day certification window or that there were services like Claimyr to help get through to EDD faster. For anyone else in this situation, I also want to mention that you should double-check that EDD has your correct mailing address. I called my local workforce office and they told me that sometimes there are address mix-ups that delay the account number letter. They suggested going into a local EDD office with ID if you're really stuck, though I know wait times can be brutal there too. Thanks Carter for posting about this and everyone for sharing their experiences - it's reassuring to know this is a common problem and there are solutions!

Thanks for mentioning the address verification tip! That's something I didn't even think about. I just moved recently so there's a chance my address got mixed up somewhere in the system. I'm going to call and double-check that before trying other options. It would be so frustrating to find out the letter was sent to my old apartment this whole time!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Filed my claim 10 days ago, got approved, and still no account number letter. Reading through all these responses has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea about the Tele-Cert option or that there were services to help get through to EDD faster. One thing I wanted to add that might help others: I called my local Assembly member's office yesterday and they said they have staff who specifically help constituents with EDD issues. They can sometimes expedite things or at least help you get through to the right person. It's worth a shot if you're really stuck and have tried everything else. Also, for anyone wondering about the letter itself - my neighbor got hers last month and said it came in a very thin, plain white envelope with just "EDD" in small print in the corner. She almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail. Definitely check everything carefully! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It's frustrating that this is such a common problem, but at least we can help each other navigate it.
