How to find my lost EDD Customer Account Number for UI claim

I'm trying to access my UI Online account but it's asking for my EDD Customer Account Number and I have NO IDEA where to find it! I got approved for unemployment back in January but lost all the paperwork they sent me during my recent move. I need to certify for benefits this Sunday and I'm panicking. Does anyone know how I can recover my account number without having to wait on the phone for 3+ hours?? I tried logging in with my email but that didn't work either.

Check your old mail! EDD sends the Customer Account Number in the initial approval paperwork - it's on the Notice of UI Award letter (DE 429Z). The number is 10 digits long. If you really lost it, you can call the automated self-service line at 1-866-333-4606, but I'd also check any emails you got from EDD when you first applied.

I've checked everywhere and can't find that letter :( I've been through all my emails too and there's nothing with the account number in it. Does anyone know if the automated line actually gives you your account number? I don't want to waste time if it doesn't.

the account # is also on the continued claim form if u kept any of those. i think you can also just use ur social to register a new account online????

Thanks! I tried registering with just my social but it says I need the EDD account number to verify my identity. So frustrating!

If you've lost your EDD Customer Account Number, you have a few options: 1. Check any paperwork you have from EDD (award letters, continued claim forms, etc) 2. Look for any mailed debit card information if you chose that payment method 3. If you have a previous UI Online account, it may be visible there 4. Call the EDD Contact Center at 1-800-300-5616 (but be prepared for a long wait) Unfortunately, for security reasons, the EDD doesn't include the full account number in emails, and the automated system won't provide it. You'll need to speak with an actual representative to retrieve it if you can't find it in your documents.

Thank you for the details! This is really helpful. I've been trying that number all morning but it just says they're experiencing high call volume and hangs up. Guess I'll have to keep trying...

I had the exact same problem last month! After trying for days to get through on the phone, I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They basically keep dialing for you until they get through, then call you when they have an agent on the line. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep was able to verify my identity and provide my account number over the phone. Just make sure you have your SSN and other identifying info ready when they connect you.

is this legit?? sounds too good to be true tbh...

It's definitely legit - I was skeptical too but it actually works. The alternative was potentially missing my certification deadline and I couldn't risk that.

WHY does EDD make EVERYTHING so complicated?!! I went through this nightmare last year and wasted TWO WEEKS trying to get my account number. Their whole system is BROKEN. Even when you do get through to someone half the time they can't help or give you wrong information. I ended up having to go to the actual office to get mine after multiple reps told me different things. RIDICULOUS!!!

Totally agree. The system seems designed to be as frustrating as possible. Every time I call I get different information. OP hope you get your issue resolved soon!

UPDATE: I tried the Claimyr service that @profile2 recommended and it actually worked! Got connected to a rep in about 25 minutes. She asked for my SSN, name, address, and DOB to verify my identity, then gave me my Customer Account Number. I was able to log in and certify right away. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

That's great! Glad you got it resolved before your certification deadline. Make sure to write down your account number somewhere safe this time! 😊

Oh trust me, I've written it in THREE different places now! Never making that mistake again lol

wait u can also check the paper mail they send u for certification if u didnt do online only. the account # is at the top of those forms.

I'm on paperless so I don't get those forms, but that's good to know for others who might have the same problem!

For future reference, you can also save your EDD Customer Account Number in your phone's notes or password manager so you always have it handy. I learned this the hard way after going through a similar situation. Also, if you ever move again, make sure to update your address with EDD immediately through UI Online - they'll send new paperwork to your updated address which can save you from this headache again!

Great advice! I wish I had thought of that earlier. Password manager is such a good idea - I always forget to back up important numbers like this. The address update tip is super important too, especially since so many people are moving these days. Thanks for sharing!

Pro tip: If you're having trouble getting through to EDD by phone, try calling right when they open at 8 AM or during lunch hours (12-1 PM) when call volume is sometimes lower. Also, if you have any old text messages from EDD about your claim, sometimes they include partial account info that might help jog your memory. I know it's frustrating but hang in there - you'll get through eventually!

0 coins

Those are really helpful tips! The 8 AM timing makes total sense - I bet most people don't think to call right when they open. I never would have thought to check old text messages either, but you're right that EDD does send SMS notifications sometimes. For anyone else reading this thread, it might also be worth checking if you saved any screenshots of your UI Online account on your phone - I know I sometimes take photos of important screens without thinking about it.

The screenshot tip is brilliant! I actually found mine that way once - had taken a photo of my account summary to send to my partner when I first got approved. Also wanted to add that if you're really desperate and live near a local EDD office, you can try going in person. I know most services are online now but some offices still help with account recovery issues. Just call ahead to make sure they're open and handling walk-ins!

Another option that worked for me - if you have any bank statements showing EDD deposits, the reference number on those transactions sometimes contains your EDD Customer Account Number or can help verify your identity when you call. I had completely forgotten about this until I was desperately searching through my financial records. Also, if you used any tax preparation software like TurboTax or H&R Block to file your taxes and reported your unemployment income, they might have stored some of your EDD information in their system. Worth checking your online tax accounts if you have them!

This is such a comprehensive thread! I'm bookmarking this for future reference. The bank statement tip is genius - I never would have thought to look there. I'm going through a similar situation right now (lost my paperwork during a recent breakup/move) and was getting really stressed about missing my certification. Between the Claimyr service, checking bank records, and all these other suggestions, I feel like I actually have a path forward now. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it's so reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this nightmare!

Just wanted to add one more tip that saved me recently - if you have any email confirmations from when you first submitted your initial UI claim online, sometimes those contain a reference number that EDD can use to look up your account. I found mine buried in my spam folder from back in January. It wasn't the full Customer Account Number, but when I called EDD and gave them that reference number along with my personal info, they were able to pull up my account immediately. Also, if you're still having trouble getting through by phone, try the disability insurance number (1-800-480-3287) - sometimes their reps can transfer you directly to the UI department and bypass some of the busy signals. Good luck to anyone else dealing with this!

Wow, checking the spam folder is such a smart idea! I just went through mine and found a ton of EDD emails I completely missed. The disability insurance number tip is interesting too - I had no idea they could transfer you. This whole thread has been incredibly helpful. It's amazing how many different places your account info might be hiding. For anyone else reading this, I'd also suggest checking if you have any screenshots in your photo gallery from when you first applied - I tend to take photos of confirmation screens without really thinking about it, and sure enough I found one with my claim details from back in January!

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - lost my EDD paperwork during a recent move and have been panicking about accessing my account. Reading through all these suggestions gives me so much hope. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service since calling EDD directly seems like a nightmare, and I'll also check my bank statements and old emails/photos like everyone suggested. It's such a relief to know there are actually multiple ways to recover this information. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - you're all lifesavers! 🙏

I'm so glad this thread is helping you too! When I was going through this mess a few months ago, I felt completely lost and stressed about missing my certification deadline. The community here really came through with all these creative solutions I never would have thought of on my own. Definitely try multiple approaches - I ended up finding my info through a combination of checking old photos on my phone and calling that Claimyr service. Don't give up, you'll get through this! And once you do get your account number back, make sure to store it in multiple safe places like others mentioned. Good luck! 🍀

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago and it was such a nightmare! Here's what finally worked for me after trying everything else: I remembered that I had taken a photo of my EDD debit card when it first arrived (just to send to my mom to show her I got approved). The EDD Customer Account Number is actually printed on the debit card itself - it's the long number that starts with your account digits. If you got the EDD debit card and still have it somewhere, check the front of the card! It saved me hours of phone calls. Also, if you threw the card away but remember where, it might be worth digging through old mail/trash if possible. I know it sounds desperate but I was literally about to miss my certification deadline and that card saved me. Hope this helps someone!

Oh my gosh, the debit card tip is AMAZING! I completely forgot that I have mine somewhere in my old wallet. I never thought to look there for the account number. This is such a game-changer - way easier than dealing with phone calls or trying to remember where I put paperwork. I'm definitely going to dig through my stuff tonight to find that card. Thanks for sharing this - you might have just saved me from missing my certification too! It's crazy how many different places this number can be hiding.

This is such a lifesaver tip! I had no idea the account number was on the debit card itself. I've been stressing about this for weeks and calling EDD over and over with no luck. I definitely still have my card somewhere - just need to hunt through my old purses and wallets. It's wild how this whole thread has turned into like a master guide for recovering lost EDD account numbers. Between the debit card, bank statements, old emails, screenshots, and all the other suggestions, there are so many places to look that I never would have thought of. Really shows how this community comes together to help each other navigate EDD's confusing system!

This thread has become the ultimate EDD account recovery guide! I'm bookmarking this for sure. Just wanted to add one more tip that helped me recently - if you have a credit monitoring service like Credit Karma, Experian, or any banking app that tracks your transactions, they sometimes categorize and store details about government payments that might include reference numbers. I found my EDD payment details going back months in my Chase banking app under the "Government Benefits" category. Also, for anyone who's tech-savvy, if you use password managers like LastPass or 1Password, sometimes people save their EDD login info there without realizing it. Worth checking! The fact that there are so many different ways to recover this info just shows how poorly designed EDD's system is - but at least we've figured out all the workarounds together! 💪

This is such an incredible resource! I'm so grateful for everyone who shared their experiences. I never would have thought to check credit monitoring apps or password managers. It's amazing how many digital breadcrumbs we leave behind without realizing it. This thread should honestly be pinned or turned into a FAQ for the community - it covers literally every possible way to recover your EDD account number. The fact that we've all had to become detective experts just to access our own benefits really says something about how broken the system is, but I love how everyone here is helping each other out instead of just complaining. Community support at its finest! 🙌

This thread is absolutely incredible! As someone who works in tech support, I can tell you that this is hands down the most comprehensive troubleshooting guide I've ever seen for recovering lost EDD account numbers. You all have basically reverse-engineered every possible place this information could be stored or accessed. I'm definitely saving this thread to share with friends and family who might face this issue. One small addition from my experience helping others: if you use Google Pay, Apple Pay, or any digital wallet apps, sometimes they store transaction details from EDD payments that include partial account information. Also, if you've ever used any budgeting apps like Mint or YNAB that sync with your bank accounts, they often categorize and store government payment details. The collective problem-solving here is amazing - you've turned what should be a simple account recovery into a masterclass in digital forensics! 🕵️‍♂️

This is such a brilliant observation! You're absolutely right that this thread has become like a digital forensics masterclass. The digital wallet tip is really smart too - I never would have thought to check Google Pay or Apple Pay for transaction details. It's honestly both impressive and sad that we've had to become this resourceful just to access our own benefits. The fact that there are literally dozens of different places our account information might be hiding really highlights how fragmented and user-unfriendly the EDD system is. But I'm so grateful for threads like this where the community comes together to share solutions. As a newcomer here, it's really encouraging to see how willing everyone is to help each other navigate these bureaucratic nightmares. This should definitely be pinned as a resource for future members dealing with the same issue!

Wow, this thread is a goldmine! I just went through the exact same nightmare last week and I'm so glad I found this. After losing my paperwork in a flood, I was absolutely panicking about missing my certification deadline. What finally worked for me was a combination of tips from this thread - I found an old screenshot buried in my photos from when I first got approved, AND I discovered that my banking app had saved more detailed transaction info than I realized. The EDD deposit had a memo field with my partial account number! For anyone else going through this, don't give up - there are SO many places this info might be hiding. Also wanted to mention that if you have kids or family members who might have helped you with your initial application, check if they have any photos or texts about it. My teenage daughter had actually taken a photo of my approval letter to send to her grandma months ago! Sometimes the solution is in the most unexpected places. This community is amazing - thanks everyone for sharing your detective work! 🙏
