EDD phone certification number - where to find it?
Can anyone tell me what number I need to call to certify for my unemployment benefits over the phone? My internet is down and I need to certify by Sunday. I've looked through all my EDD paperwork but can't find the right number. The regular EDD customer service line just keeps giving me automated messages about checking UI Online. Help please!

The correct number for phone certification is 1-866-333-4606. You'll need your Social Security number and your PIN to certify. The automated system is called EDD Tele-Cert and it's available 24/7. Make sure you have your work search information ready before you call.

I tried certifying by phone last month and it was AWFUL!! The system kept hanging up on me and when it didn't, I couldn't understand the robot voice. Ended up having to go to the library to use their computers just to certify. Such a headache!!!

•If you're having trouble getting through to EDD by phone, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It helped me actually reach a representative when I couldn't certify online. Their system basically connects you with an EDD agent without you having to call hundreds of times. Does anyone know if you have to certify by phone every time once you start using it? Or can you go back to using UI Online for the next certification?

•You can switch between methods each time you certify. Phone certification is just an alternative to UI Online, not a replacement. You can use UI Online one week and phone the next if you want - EDD doesn't lock you into one method.

My cousin certified by phone every week for like 6 months cuz he didnt have internet at his house. Never had a problem with payments. The trick is to call really early in the morning or late at night i think.

Update: I called the number and was able to certify! For anyone who needs it in the future, you need your SSN and PIN, and you have to answer all the same questions as online. It took about 10 minutes to go through everything. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Glad you got it sorted out! Just remember that phone certification doesn't give you a confirmation number like UI Online does. If you want proof that you certified, you'll need to call again and select the option to check your payment status after 24 hours.
