EDD phone filing number for broken phone? Need to certify ASAP!
My phone shattered yesterday and I NEED to certify for benefits this week but can't use my usual UI Online method because my phone was my only internet access! What's the actual EDD number I need to call to certify over the phone? And is there a specific time that's better to call? My certification deadline is in 2 days and I'm panicking because I can't afford to miss a payment right now. Using a friend's laptop but only for an hour!

The EDD Tele-Cert number is 1-866-333-4606. You'll need your SSN, PIN, and to answer the same certification questions. BUT honestly calling them is a nightmare - they'll put you on hold forever. If you're using your friend's laptop, why not just log into UI Online there? Way easier than calling.

•Thanks for the number!! I tried UI Online on my friend's laptop but it's asking for a security code that was sent to my phone... which is broken! That's why I need to call instead. Do they have specific hours for the Tele-Cert?

•The automated system is frustrating, but it does work if you follow the prompts carefully. Make sure you have your Customer Account Number (not just SSN) and PIN ready. The system will ask several yes/no questions for certification, just like online.

when my sister broke her phone she just went to the library and used their computer to do the UI online thing instead of calling

•I would totally do that but my account has 2-factor authentication set up and it sends a code to my (now broken) phone. That's why I specifically need the phone filing option until I can get a new phone :

For anyone struggling to get through to EDD, I was in the same boat last month trying to resolve an identity verification issue. After 3 days of failed attempts, I tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km In your specific situation though, you should be able to use the automated Tele-Cert system at 1-866-333-4606. It's available 24/7. Just make sure you have your SSN and PIN ready.

•I second the Claimyr recommendation if you need to speak to an ACTUAL person. The automated system is fine for basic certification if it works, but if you run into ANY problems, you'll need a real rep. That's where the regular EDD phone system becomes a total nightmare.

i certify by phone all the time. the number is 1-866-333-4606. u need your social and a 4 digit pin. if you never set up a pin before it should be the last 4 of your social by default. it takes like 5 minutes tops once u get thru the menu.

•Thank you! This is super helpful. I didn't realize the default PIN might be the last 4 of my SSN. I'm going to try calling right now.

To clarify some confusion I see here: 1. For phone certification (Tele-Cert): Call 1-866-333-4606, available 24/7. You need your SSN and PIN. Default PIN is usually last 4 of SSN if you never changed it. 2. For speaking to a live EDD representative about other issues: Call 1-800-300-5616, available Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. These are two completely different systems. For simple certification, the automated Tele-Cert should work fine. For account issues, password resets, or 2FA problems, you'll need the customer service line.

•They should really make this clearer! I always mix up which number is which. The regular customer service line is basically impossible to get through on anyway.

UPDATE: I just tried calling the Tele-Cert number and was able to certify! It took about 10 minutes going through all the questions, but it worked. Thanks everyone for your help. The pin was indeed the last 4 of my SSN. Such a relief to have this taken care of!

•I'm in Fresno, but appreciate the offer! The phone is completely fried - not just the screen. I'm going to get a new one tomorrow when my brother can drive me to the store.
