Can't find where to enter EDD Customer Account Number in UI Online - help needed!

I lost my job last month when our restaurant suddenly closed with no warning. Filed for unemployment about 10 days ago and set up my UI Online account. I received an email saying my claim was processed and I can see my weekly benefit amount ($450) when I log in. Yesterday I got a letter in the mail with my EDD Customer Account Number, but I'm completely lost on where to enter this number in the system. I've clicked through every tab and menu option in UI Online but can't find any place to input this number. Am I missing something obvious? Do I even need to enter this number somewhere? The letter makes it sound important but gives zero instructions on what to do with it. Getting really stressed because I need to certify for the first time this Sunday!

Don't worry! You don't actually need to enter the EDD Customer Account Number anywhere in UI Online. That number is primarily for when you call EDD or for certain paper forms. The system already has your account linked since you can see your claim balance. As long as you can log in to UI Online, you're all set to certify when your certification period opens up.

Oh thank goodness!! I was staring at my screen for like an hour yesterday trying to find where to put this stupid number. So I can just ignore it for now? Will I need it for anything else coming up?

Thanks! At least I'm not the only one who was confused by this. I'll put it somewhere safe.

The EDD Customer Account Number is SUPER important but not for UI Online login. KEEP THAT PAPER SAFE!!! I lost mine and trying to get a new one was absolute HELL. Had to verify my identity all over again and wait 3 weeks for a replacement. The EDD system is deliberately confusing - they never explain these things clearly on purpose so people give up on their benefits!!

While I agree it's important to keep your documents safe, the EDD isn't deliberately trying to confuse people. The system is just outdated and wasn't designed with user experience in mind. But yes, absolutely keep that number safe as you'll need it when calling about your claim.

Yep you don't need to enter it anywhere right now. Just focus on certifying correctly this Sunday. Make sure you report any income accurately and answer all the questions truthfully. That's the part where people usually mess up.

Good point about certification. I'm a bit nervous about that too - especially the work search requirements. Do I really need to apply to 5 jobs each week? That seems like a lot.

The Customer Account Number is mainly used for these purposes: 1. Verifying your identity when calling EDD (primary use) 2. Setting up your account if you need to register again 3. Some paper forms require it Just keep it with your important documents. For certification, focus on answering each question accurately and keeping good records of your work search activities. California requires you to make a reasonable effort to find work each week, which typically means applying to 2-3 jobs per week, not 5. Just document everything carefully!

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! That makes me feel a lot better about both the account number and the work search requirements. I was panicking thinking I needed to apply to 5 jobs every single week.

When I got laid off back in November, I had this exact same question! But yeah, you don't enter it anywhere in UI Online. I ended up needing it later though when I had to call EDD about a payment issue. Speaking of calling them, it's nearly impossible to get through on their regular line. When I had an issue with missing payments, I wasted days trying to reach someone.

If you're having trouble reaching EDD, I'd recommend using Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to an EDD representative much faster than trying on your own. Saved me hours of frustration when my claim was pending for weeks. You can see how it works at claimyr.com or check out this video demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

One more thing that might be helpful - you should also register with CalJOBS (www.caljobs.ca.gov) if you haven't already. It's California's job search website, and registering there is technically part of the work search requirements. It also has some decent job listings that might help with your work search activities.

I hadn't heard about this at all! Thank you - I'll register there today. Really appreciate everyone's help here, feeling much less stressed now.
