EDD Account Registration Error - 'Can't find information in system' before interview date
I just got laid off from my restaurant job and applied for unemployment benefits last week. I received my EDD account number in the mail yesterday, but when I tried to register for UI Online, I keep getting an error message saying "can't find your information in our system". My eligibility phone interview is scheduled for 7/25/2025, which is still two weeks away. I'm confused about what to do next - should I wait until after my interview to try registering again, or do I need to call EDD to fix this issue? I'm stressing about not being able to certify for benefits if I can't even access my account. Has anyone dealt with this registration error before?

Same thing happnd to me!!!! The system is SO BROKEN. I got my account # in mail but couldn't register for like 3 weeks. Kept getting that stupid error. Called like 50 times and nobody picked up. EDD is a JOKE!!!

•Oh no, that's not what I wanted to hear. Did you eventually get it fixed? I'm worried about missing certifications while waiting.

This is actually pretty common. There's often a delay between when they generate your account number and when your information is fully loaded into their online system. You have two options: 1. Wait until closer to your interview date - by then your info should be in the system 2. Call EDD to have them check your account status You won't miss any payments as long as you eventually certify for those weeks, even if it's delayed. The interview on 7/25 is just to verify your eligibility details, not related to your online access issue.

•Thank you, that's reassuring! Do you know how long the delay typically is? I'm just nervous about doing everything correctly since this is my first time on unemployment.

Wait at least 48 hours after receiving your account number before trying to register online. Their systems update overnight and sometimes it takes a couple days for your info to sync up. If it's been more than 3 days, then you should call. The technical support line at 1-833-978-2511 is usually less busy than the regular EDD number.

•It's been 2 days since I got my account number, so maybe I should wait another day or two before panicking. Thanks for the tip about the technical support line!

One thing ppl aren't mentioning is that if you make ANY typos when registering it gives that same error message. Double check that ur entering your SSN correctly and make sure your NAME matches EXACTLY what's on your EDD letter (including middle initial if they have it). That fixed it for me.

•This is right! I had the same problem because I was putting my nickname (Rob) instead of my full name (Robert) and it wouldn't work. The system is super picky about these details.

If you need to reach EDD quickly, I had great luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com). After struggling for days with busy signals, they got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes who fixed my account registration issue right away. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Seriously saved me weeks of frustration when I had a similar registration problem.

•Is this legit? Sounds to good to be true honestly. EDD phone lines are IMPOSSIBLE.

i had an interview last month and couldnt register online until AFTER my interview got done. they have to verify some stuff before the online system lets you in. just wait til after ur interview probably

•This isn't usually the case - the registration system and interview scheduling are separate processes. Most people can register online as soon as their account number is fully processed in the system (1-3 days after receiving it). The interview is more about eligibility for benefits, not about system access.

Update us if you get it working! I'd try these steps in order: 1. Wait another 24-48 hours and try again 2. Triple-check all your info exactly matches your EDD letter 3. Try registering during non-peak hours (early morning or late evening) 4. If still not working by Monday, call the technical support line You can still prepare for your interview while waiting for the registration issue to resolve.

•Thanks for the step-by-step plan! I'll try again tomorrow morning with all my documents in front of me to make sure I'm entering everything exactly right. I'll update once I get it working (hopefully!).

UPDATE: It worked!! I waited until this morning and tried again, making sure to enter my FULL legal name exactly as shown on the EDD letter (including my middle name). That was the issue - I wasn't including my middle name when trying to register. System accepted everything right away and I'm in my account now. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Great news! The system is incredibly picky about those details. Glad you got it sorted out!
