EDD account registration limbo - can't log in but system says account exists

I started my unemployment claim process last week and registered for an EDD online account, but I never got the confirmation email they promised. When I try to log in, the system tells me my account doesn't exist. Then when I tried to register AGAIN, it says my account already exists! I'm completely stuck in this weird limbo and can't access my claim or certify for benefits. I've called the EDD phone number at least 15 times but can't get through to anyone. Has this happened to anyone else? What am I supposed to do now? My rent is due in 10 days and I'm starting to panic!

This exact thing happened to me in February. The EDD system is so frustrating! Try this: use the 'forgot password' option instead of trying to register again. Sometimes the account gets created but the confirmation email gets lost or goes to spam. The password reset will force a new email to be sent, which might get through. Also double-check that you don't have any typos in your email address in the system.

Thanks, I'll try the forgot password option right now. I checked spam already and nothing there. The weird thing is I'm 100% sure I entered my email correctly because I triple-checked it during registration. The system is just broken!

I've been checking junk/spam folders multiple times a day and still nothing. It's been 8 days already! Did you just wait or did you do something to fix it?

This is a common technical issue with the EDD registration system. Here's what you need to do: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Try accessing the site from a different browser (Firefox if you were using Chrome, etc.) 3. If that doesn't work, try the "Contact EDD" form on their website specifically mentioning account registration issues 4. Wait 24-48 hours for their technical team to resolve the issue If none of that works, you'll need to speak with an EDD representative directly. The standard phone lines are often jammed, but you can try calling right when they open at 8am.

Thank you for these detailed steps! I tried clearing my cache and cookies, and also tried Firefox instead of Chrome, but still getting the same error. I submitted the contact form yesterday but who knows when they'll respond. I've been calling at 8am sharp but just get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and it hangs up on me. So frustrating!

I had this EXACT problem last month! The EDD system is COMPLETELY BROKEN. I tried for TWO WEEKS to get through on the phone with no luck. Finally used a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. The rep fixed my account issues on the spot and I finally got access. Check out their demo video here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and website at claimyr.com - seriously saved me so much stress and time.

Is this legit? Seems sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call for you...

100% legit. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for weeks. They don't make the call for you - they just get you past the busy signals and into the EDD phone queue. You still talk directly with EDD yourself. Saved me from missing another certification period.

this hapend to me to, the problm isnt ur account, its the stupid EDD computer system. they upgraded it last year and it still doesnt work right. my friend who works in IT says its becuz they built it on top of a 40 year old system lol. anyway i had to get a new email address and start the whole registration over. try that maybe?????

Ugh, that's annoying but might work. Did you use the same SSN and personal info with the new email? I'm worried they'll flag it as duplicate or something.

Have you tried accessing the system during non-peak hours? I've found that the EDD website works better very early in the morning (like 5-6am) or late at night after 10pm when fewer people are on it. Also, make sure you're going directly to the UI Online portal and not through the main EDD website, which sometimes has redirect issues.

That's a good idea, I'll try really early tomorrow morning. I've been trying mid-day which is probably the worst time. And I've been going through the main EDD site - I'll try bookmarking the direct UI Online link instead. Thanks!

I'm a UI claims specialist and I've seen this issue many times before. What's happening is that your account was created in the system, but the confirmation email process failed. Here's what you need to do: 1. Wait 24 hours after your last attempt (the system needs time to reset) 2. Try the password reset option as others suggested 3. If that doesn't work, you need to speak with a technical support representative For #3, call this specific number for technical issues: 1-833-978-2511 (not the regular UI claims number). Select the option for account access issues. They should be able to manually verify your identity and either resend the confirmation or reset your account status.

Thank you so much for this specific advice! I didn't know about the separate technical support number. I'll try the password reset once more and if that doesn't work, I'll call that number tomorrow morning. Really appreciate your help!

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know what worked for me. I tried calling the technical support number that @UIspecialist mentioned at exactly 8:00am, but still couldn't get through. Then I tried the Claimyr service that someone recommended above and actually got connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes! The rep confirmed my account was created but stuck in some kind of verification limbo. They manually updated something on their end and sent a new confirmation email which I got right away. I can now log in and access my claim! So relieved and just certified for my first two weeks. Thanks everyone for your help!

Glad you got it resolved! For anyone else reading this thread with similar issues, this is exactly what happens - the account gets created but stuck in a verification state without sending the confirmation. Always make sure to follow up if you don't receive EDD communications, as your claim can be delayed or even disqualified if you miss certification deadlines.
