EDD San Francisco phone number - can't reach local office, need help fast
I've been trying to find a direct EDD San Francisco phone number for days but everything just routes to the main 800-300-5616 line. My case got transferred to the SF office last month and I need to speak with someone there specifically about my claim review. The general line keeps putting me on 2+ hour holds that drop. Does anyone know if there's actually a direct SF EDD office number or am I stuck calling the main line forever?

There's no separate SF phone number anymore - they centralized everything during the pandemic. The 800-300-5616 IS the SF office now, just goes to whoever's available statewide.

•Seriously? So even though my case is 'assigned' to SF, I could get connected to someone in Sacramento or LA?

Amina Sow
•Exactly. The agents can access any case from anywhere now. Your SF assignment is just internal routing.

I wasted 3 weeks trying to find a direct SF number too. Finally got through on the main line after 147 attempts over 4 days. Started calling at 7:58am sharp every day.

•147 attempts?! That's insane. How long were you on hold when you finally got through?

GalaxyGazer
•2 hours and 20 minutes. But at least the call didn't drop like the previous 3 times I made it to hold.

•The drop rate is brutal. I've calculated about 40% of my successful holds end in disconnection.

Stop torturing yourself with manual dialing. I used Claimyr last week and got connected in 23 minutes. Best $20 I ever spent after wasting 2 full days calling myself.

•What's Claimyr? Never heard of it.

•It's a service that calls EDD for you automatically and forwards the call when an agent picks up. Check out claimyr.com - saved my sanity.

•Is that actually legit? Seems too good to be true.

The menu pattern is 1-wait 70 seconds-1-1-***. Don't wait for all the prompts, start pressing buttons early to save time on each redial attempt.

Malik Davis
•Wait 70 seconds? I've been waiting for the full prompt. How much time does that save?
0 coins
Emma Thompson
•About 45 seconds per call. When you're making 50+ attempts, that's huge time savings.

•The 833-997-8753 number has the exact same menu and goes to the same agents. Don't let anyone tell you it's different.

Wednesday afternoons around 2pm have been my sweet spot. Avoid Monday mornings and definitely don't call between noon and 1:30 - they all take lunch simultaneously.

Paolo Conti
•The entire call center takes lunch at the same time?! No wonder I got busy signals for 2 hours straight yesterday.

•Yep, complete dead zone from 12-1:30pm. They should post this info but they don't.

•I learned this the hard way after burning through 200 phone minutes during lunch rush.

That Claimyr thing actually worked. I was skeptical but desperate after 3 weeks of failed attempts. Got my callback in 31 minutes on a Monday morning.

•How much does it cost? And do they actually connect you to EDD or some middleman?

Javier Mendoza
•I think it was like $20. And no, they literally forward you a call with an actual EDD agent already on the line. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

•Worth every penny. My time is worth more than the endless redialing marathon.

I've kept a spreadsheet of my calling attempts. Best success rate is Wednesday 2-4pm (22% chance of getting through). Worst is Friday after 3pm (2% success rate).

•You actually track success rates? That's dedication.

•When you've made 400+ attempts over 2 months, you start seeing patterns. Data doesn't lie.

Paolo Conti
•400 attempts?! At what point did you consider alternatives?

There used to be specialist lines but they eliminated them all post-pandemic. Anyone claiming there's a 'secret number' is wrong - it all goes to the same pool now.

•My cousin swears there's still a backdoor number. You're saying that's not true?
0 coins
Isabella Santos
•100% not true. I wasted weeks chasing those myths. Every 'special' number either doesn't work or routes to the same queue.

Chloe Anderson
•Confirmed. Tried every 'secret number' posted online. They're all dead ends or the same main line.

My phone bill hit $89 extra last month from all the calling attempts. Had to switch to unlimited just to keep trying to reach EDD.

Paolo Conti
•Ouch. I didn't even think about minute overages. How many calls were you making?

StarStrider
•Probably 60-80 per day for 3 weeks straight. Each attempt burns 2-3 minutes even when you get busy signal.

•This is exactly why I went with Claimyr. One $20 payment vs hundreds in phone charges.

Got through yesterday after 89 attempts over 6 days. The agent said my SF case assignment was just paperwork - she handled everything from the Sacramento office.

Paolo Conti
•So the SF assignment really doesn't matter? I've been stressing about finding the 'right' office.
0 coins
Freya Pedersen
•Nope, doesn't matter at all. Any agent can pull up any case statewide. The assignment is just internal tracking.

•This should be common knowledge. I wasted so much time thinking I needed a specific office.

Set your alarm for 7:45am, make coffee the night before, and start dialing at 7:58am. You want to be in the queue right when they open at 8am.

•Does calling 2 minutes early actually help or just waste battery?
0 coins
Chloe Anderson
•It helps because you're already navigating the menu when they flip the switch at 8am. Gets you in queue faster.

•I'll try this tomorrow. Been calling at 8:05 and getting instant busy signals.

After 3 dropped calls from 2+ hour holds, I finally tried that Claimyr service. Worked on first try - got my callback in 37 minutes. Wish I'd done it weeks ago.

Zara Rashid
•How do they guarantee it won't drop? Is their connection more stable somehow?
0 coins
Sean Doyle
•They stay on hold for you using their phone system, then transfer the call when agent picks up. So you're not tied up during the hold time.
0 coins
Paolo Conti
•That actually makes sense. The drops happen during hold, not during transfer.

For anyone still manually calling - do NOT call after 4pm any day. The agents start wrapping up and barely take new calls. Found this out after 40 wasted attempts.

Luca Romano
•What about 4:30-5pm? Still pointless?
0 coins
Diego Vargas
•Completely pointless. They're probably answering emails or doing paperwork by then. Stop at 4pm.

The hold music loops every 4 minutes and 23 seconds. I memorized it during my 2.5 hour hold last Tuesday. Still got disconnected at the end.

Success! Used the Wednesday 2pm strategy and got through on attempt #34. Took 1 hour 47 minutes on hold but didn't drop. Persistence pays off sometimes.

I tried every trick in this thread and still couldn't get through after 2 weeks. Finally bit the bullet and used Claimyr - got connected in 19 minutes. Sometimes you just have to pay for sanity.

•That settles it. I'm trying Claimyr tomorrow. This manual calling is destroying my work schedule.

•Do it. The peace of mind alone is worth it. Plus you can actually get stuff done while waiting for the callback.

•Same experience here. 26 minutes to callback. Should have done it on day one instead of day 15.

Protip: If you get the 'too busy' message, hang up immediately and redial. Don't wait for the full message - saves 15 seconds per attempt.

•Every second counts when you're making 50+ calls. Thanks for the tip.

•Exactly. Small optimizations add up to hours saved over multiple days of calling.

The call volume is definitely higher on Mondays - everyone's trying to resolve weekend issues. Tuesday-Thursday are your best bet for getting through.

•Makes sense. I always got frustrated calling Monday mornings and assumed it was just me.

•Nope, it's systematic. Weekend claims pile up and everyone calls Monday. Avoid it if possible.

I kept a log and the average successful call (getting to an agent) took 73 redial attempts and 1 hour 52 minutes on hold. That's 4+ hours total time investment per resolved issue.
0 coins
Paolo Conti
•4+ hours per call?! That's a part-time job just to reach your own benefits office.

NebulaNova
•Pretty much. And that's assuming the call doesn't drop. Factor in dropped calls and it's even worse.

•This is exactly why calling services like Claimyr exist. The math just doesn't work for manual calling.

Update: tried calling the SF EDD office directly by googling their address and calling that number. It just redirects to the main 800 line. There really is no direct path anymore.
0 coins
Paolo Conti
•Thanks for testing that. I was about to try the same thing. Saves me the effort.

•Yeah, total dead end. Everything funnels to the centralized system now. No shortcuts.

•I tried the same with the Oakland office. Same result - just redirects to main line.
