Can't find the right contact number for EDD - keep getting bounced around

I've been searching everywhere for the correct contact number for EDD and I'm getting so many different numbers online. Called what I thought was the main line (833) 978-7753 yesterday and got stuck in an endless menu loop. Then tried (800) 300-5616 this morning and waited 45 minutes just to get disconnected. Are these even the right numbers? I need to talk to someone about my claim status but I can't figure out which contact number for EDD actually works. Has anyone successfully reached a human recently?

Both numbers you called are actually the same line - 833 and 800 route to identical system. The problem isn't the contact number for EDD, it's that millions of people are calling the same lines.

Wait seriously? So I wasted time trying different numbers when they're the same? That's incredibly frustrating.

Yeah the 833 number was added during pandemic but it's identical to the 800 line. Same hold queue, same agents.

The contact number for EDD that actually works is (800) 300-5616. Menu pattern is: 1 (wait 70 seconds) 1-1-***. But honestly after trying for 3 weeks straight, I ended up using Claimyr and got through in 20 minutes.

What's Claimyr? I've never heard of that before.

•

It's an auto-dialer service at claimyr.com that calls EDD for you and forwards the call when they reach an agent. Saved me literally days of redialing.

I was skeptical about paying for something like that but honestly it was worth every penny. Got connected in 35 minutes vs the weeks I'd been trying manually.

Don't waste time with the so-called 'specialist lines' people talk about online. Those contact numbers for EDD don't exist anymore - they were discontinued after the pandemic ended.

Thank you for saying this! I spent two days calling numbers I found on some blog that claimed to be direct lines.

Yeah those old articles are still ranking on Google but the info is completely outdated. Stick to the main unemployment line.

Pro tip: Don't call between 12pm-1:30pm Pacific. The entire call center takes lunch and literally nobody answers during that window. Found this out after wasting hours calling during lunch.

Are you serious? The whole call center closes for lunch? Why don't they announce this anywhere?

0 coins

Completely serious. I tracked my calling success for 2 weeks and had zero connects during lunch hours. They should definitely publicize this.

This explains why I never got through when calling during my own lunch break. I thought it was just bad luck.

Called the contact number for EDD 67 times yesterday starting at 8am sharp. Got through to hold queue twice but both calls dropped after 90+ minutes. This system is absolutely broken.

The call dropping is the worst part. I've had 3 calls drop after waiting over an hour each time.

It's soul crushing. You finally think you're making progress then BAM - disconnected with no way to get back in queue.

Wednesday afternoons seem to be the sweet spot for the contact number for EDD. I've had the most success between 2-4pm on Wednesdays. Avoid Mondays completely.

Interesting - I noticed Thursday afternoons work well too. Monday mornings are absolutely impossible.

Yeah Monday is when everyone calls after weekend frustration. Mid-week is definitely better odds.

Good to know! I was calling mostly on Mondays thinking it would be better after the weekend.

After 2 months of failed attempts with the regular contact number for EDD, I tried Claimyr last week. Got connected in 15 minutes and finally resolved my payment issue. Sometimes you just need to accept that manual calling isn't realistic anymore.

How much does Claimyr cost? I'm getting desperate enough to consider paying for help.

0 coins

I think it was around $20 but honestly worth it when you consider the time saved. Check their website claimyr.com for current pricing.

I used them too after seeing the demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 - worked exactly as advertised.

The key with any contact number for EDD is speed-dialing the menu. Don't wait for prompts to finish - press 1, wait about 70 seconds, then rapid-fire 1-1-***. Saves 30 seconds per attempt.

•

How did you figure out the exact timing? That's so specific.

0 coins

Trial and error over dozens of calls. The first menu has a long message so you wait, but after that you can skip ahead.

This actually works! Just tried it and definitely saved time even though I still couldn't get through.

EDD hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Pacific. Don't bother calling outside these hours with any contact number for EDD - you'll just get recordings.

I learned this the hard way calling at 6am thinking I'd beat the rush.

Hannah White

•

Yeah they're strict about those hours. Also don't call after 4pm - they seem to stop taking new callers even though they're officially open until 5.

Set your expectations realistically with the contact number for EDD. Most people need 20-100 redial attempts just to get on hold, then 1.5-2 hours waiting, with 30-50% chance the call drops anyway.

0 coins

Those statistics are depressing but probably accurate based on my experience.

This is why services like Claimyr exist - the manual process is just not sustainable for most people.

Mateo Silva

Exactly. It's not a failure to use tools when the system is this broken. Sometimes efficiency is worth the cost.

Make sure you're calling from a phone with unlimited minutes if using any contact number for EDD manually. I hit my plan limit after 3 days of constant redialing.

0 coins

Good point! I didn't think about phone bill impact until I got charged for overages.

WiFi calling can help if your carrier supports it, but even then the time investment is enormous.

Final update after reading this thread - tried Claimyr this morning and got connected to EDD in 28 minutes. Finally able to fix my claim after 6 weeks of failed manual attempts. Thanks everyone for the advice!

That's amazing! I think I'm convinced to try it too. This manual calling is destroying my sanity.

Same here - just signed up after reading these success stories. Fingers crossed!

Hope it works as well for you both! The relief of actually talking to a human was incredible.
