Need EDD support number that actually works - regular line just gives busy signal
I keep seeing different EDD support numbers online and I'm not sure which one actually connects to a real person. The main number I found keeps giving me the 'too busy' message after going through the whole menu. Is there a direct EDD support number that bypasses some of the wait? I've been trying for days and getting nowhere with my claim issue.

The main EDD support number is 800-300-5616. There's also 833-978-0753 but they're literally the same line - don't let anyone tell you they're different. Both will give you the exact same busy message.

•Thanks! I was wondering if those were different lines. Explains why I got the same runaround on both.

•Yeah that confused me too when I first started calling. Wasted a whole morning switching between numbers thinking one would be less busy.

Honestly the EDD support number situation is brutal right now. I've been calling 800-300-5616 for two weeks straight. You have to dial 1, wait about 70 seconds, then dial 1-1-***. Even then you'll probably get the busy message.

•Two weeks?? That's insane. How many times per day are you calling?

•I start at 8am sharp and usually make 40-50 attempts before giving up around noon. It's become a part-time job.

After spending literally months trying to get through on the EDD support number manually, I finally broke down and used Claimyr. Got connected to an agent in 25 minutes. Sometimes you just have to accept that the system is broken and find another way.

•What's Claimyr? Is that some kind of calling service?

•Yeah it's at claimyr.com - they basically call the EDD support number for you automatically and forward the call when they get an agent. Costs money but saved me weeks of frustration.

•I was skeptical about paying for something like that but honestly after wasting 3 weeks of my life calling, it was worth every penny.

Pro tip for the EDD support number: DO NOT call between 12pm and 1:30pm. The entire call center goes to lunch and nobody answers. I learned this the hard way after wasting hours during that time slot.

Sofia Torres
•Wait, seriously? The whole call center takes lunch at the same time? That's ridiculous!

•Yep, complete dead zone. They should post this information but they don't. Also avoid calling after 4pm - they stop taking new calls even though they're supposedly open until 5.

•This explains SO much. I always wondered why I could never get through during my lunch break.

The EDD support number system is designed to discourage people from calling. I've tracked my attempts - best success rate is Wednesday afternoons around 2:30pm. Monday mornings are absolutely hopeless.

•You actually track your calling data? That's dedication.

•When you're desperate, you try everything. I have spreadsheets showing call times, hold durations, success rates. Wednesday/Thursday afternoons are statistically your best bet.

I finally got through the EDD support number last week after 67 attempts. Waited on hold for 2 hours and 15 minutes. The agent was helpful but the whole process is just broken. There has to be a better way.

•67 attempts just to get on hold? This is why I gave up and went with an auto-dialer service.

•Which one did you use? I can't go through this again if I need to call back.

•Claimyr - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 that shows exactly how it works.

PSA: There is NO secret EDD support number or specialist line anymore. Those tricks worked during the pandemic but they shut down all the alternate numbers. Don't waste time with the disability line or PFL line hoping to transfer - they won't.

Sofia Torres
•Good to know. I was about to try calling the disability line thinking it might be less busy.

•Yeah that used to work in 2020-2021 but not anymore. The only working EDD support number for unemployment is 800-300-5616 or 833-978-0753 (same line).

•I fell for this last month and wasted two days calling the wrong numbers. Wish I'd seen this earlier.

My strategy for the EDD support number: I set my alarm for 7:30am, make coffee the night before, and start dialing at 7:55am before they officially open. Sometimes you can get in the queue early.

Sofia Torres
•Does calling before 8am actually work? I thought their system would just reject calls.

•It's hit or miss but I've gotten through a few times calling at 7:57-7:58am. The system seems to start accepting calls a few minutes early.

•I tried this approach for a week. Got through once at 7:58am but usually just get a different error message before 8.

Heads up - even if you get through the EDD support number and get on hold, there's about a 40% chance your call will drop. I've been disconnected after waiting 1.5+ hours multiple times. It's soul crushing.

Sofia Torres
•That's my biggest fear - waiting hours just to get disconnected. How is this system even legal?

•It's not just you - the EDD phone system drops 30-50% of calls. They know about it but haven't fixed it. Happened to me 4 times in one week.

For anyone still struggling with the EDD support number, I highly recommend just using Claimyr at this point. I was stubborn and kept trying manually for 3 weeks. Finally paid for their service and got connected in 18 minutes. Should have done it from day one.

•How much does something like that cost? Is it worth it compared to just calling yourself?

•Costs way less than the time I wasted calling manually. Plus they guarantee you'll reach a human - no more busy signals or dropped calls.

•Same here. I was against paying for calling help but after losing entire days to the EDD support number runaround, it was the best money I ever spent.

Just a reminder that EDD support number hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm Pacific Time. Don't bother calling on weekends or after 5pm. Also they're closed on all federal holidays.

Sofia Torres
•Thanks for the reminder. I was about to try calling Saturday morning.

•Yeah weekends are completely dead. Even their automated system doesn't pick up.

If you're going to call the EDD support number manually, here's the fastest menu path: Dial 800-300-5616, press 1 for English, wait exactly 70 seconds (I time it), then press 1-1-***. Don't press the buttons too early or you'll mess up the sequence.
0 coins
Sofia Torres
•Wait exactly 70 seconds? I've been pressing 1 right after the English prompt. Maybe that's why I keep getting errors.
0 coins
Isabella Costa
•Yeah the timing is crucial. If you press too early it resets the menu. 70 seconds from when you press 1 for English.

•I've been doing 60 seconds and wondering why it wasn't working consistently. Going to try 70 tomorrow.

Reality check: The EDD support number is intentionally difficult to reach. They're overwhelmed and understaffed. If you absolutely need to talk to someone, either dedicate your entire day to calling or use an automated service. There's no magic shortcut.

Sofia Torres
•This is depressing but probably the most honest assessment I've seen. I guess I need to set realistic expectations.

•I don't mean to be discouraging, but after 6 months of dealing with EDD, you learn to be pragmatic about it. The system is what it is.

Last week I finally connected through the EDD support number after 89 attempts over 4 days. Agent was super helpful and resolved my issue in 10 minutes. The irony is that the actual help is great - it's just impossible to reach them.

Sofia Torres
•89 attempts! That's dedication. At least you got it resolved in the end.

•Yeah once you get through, the agents are knowledgeable and efficient. It's just the phone system that's completely broken.

•This gives me hope. I'm on day 3 of calling and was starting to think the agents wouldn't be able to help even if I got through.
