Need the actual customer service number for EDD that works - not getting anywhere
I keep finding different customer service numbers for EDD online and I'm getting nowhere. Some say 800-300-5616, others mention 833-978-7653. Are these the same line? I've been trying for days and either get busy signals or sit on hold for hours just to get disconnected. What's the real customer service number that actually connects you to someone who can help with unemployment claims?

Both numbers go to the exact same call center, don't let anyone tell you different. I've tested this myself - same hold music, same agents. The 800 number is just the original one they've always had.

•That explains why I was getting the same busy message on both! Wasted so much time thinking one might be better than the other.

•Yeah I fell for that myth too. Spent a whole morning alternating between numbers thinking I was being smart.

The real problem isn't the customer service number, it's that their phone system is completely overwhelmed. I've called 200+ times just this week.

CyberSiren
•200 times?! How do you even have time for that? I'm losing my mind after 30 attempts.

•I basically made it my full-time job. Set alarms, call between meetings, call during lunch breaks. It's insane what we have to do.

I was in the same boat until I found Claimyr. Instead of spending days redialing that customer service number, they call for you and patch you through when an agent picks up. Got through in 20 minutes yesterday.

•Is that legit? I'm skeptical of anything that costs money but I'm also desperate at this point.

Yara Khoury
•Totally understand the skepticism. I was the same way. But after wasting 3 weeks calling manually, the $20 was worth every penny. Check out claimyr.com

•My sister used them last month. She was on hold for 6 minutes total instead of the usual 2+ hour nightmare.

Pro tip for the customer service number: dial 1-wait exactly 70 seconds-1-1-***. Don't rush the timing or you'll mess up the menu navigation.

CyberSiren
•Wait exactly 70 seconds? I've been waiting like 30 seconds. No wonder I keep getting weird menu options!

StardustSeeker
•Yeah the timing is crucial. I timed it with a stopwatch after getting it wrong dozens of times. 70 seconds is the sweet spot.

Whatever customer service number you use, DO NOT call between noon and 1:30pm. The entire call center goes to lunch and nobody answers. Found this out the hard way after wasting hours.

CyberSiren
•Seriously? They all take lunch at the same time? That should be illegal for a government service.

•It's true. I called 40 times during that window last Tuesday and got nothing but busy signals. Complete dead zone.

The customer service number works fine if you call at 7:58am sharp. I get through about 60% of the time calling right before they officially open.

CyberSiren
•7:58am? Don't they open at 8? How does calling before they open help?

Amina Bah
•Their system starts accepting calls a couple minutes early. By 8:01am the lines are already jammed. Those 2-3 minutes make all the difference.

•I tried this but still got busy signals. Maybe it depends on what day of the week?

Been calling the customer service number for 2 weeks straight. Got through twice, both times the call dropped after 90+ minutes on hold. This system is broken.

CyberSiren
•The dropped calls are the worst part! All that time wasted just to get disconnected when you're finally close.

Keisha Taylor
•Exactly! And there's no way to get back in the queue. You start over from zero every single time.

That customer service number is a joke. After 50+ attempts I paid for Claimyr and had an agent on the line in 15 minutes. Best money I ever spent.

•Two people have mentioned Claimyr now. Is this like an auto-dialer service?
0 coins
Paolo Marino
•Yeah they dial for you, stay on hold, then call your phone when an agent picks up. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

Monday mornings are the absolute worst time to try any customer service number for EDD. I've learned to not even bother until Tuesday afternoon.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•Why are Mondays so bad? Is it because people call over the weekend and can't get through?
0 coins
Oliver Becker
•Exactly. Plus all the weekend issues pile up. Wednesday and Thursday afternoons are your best bet.

The customer service number itself isn't the problem - it's that they only have like 50 agents for millions of claimants. The math just doesn't work.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•50 agents?! That can't be right. There's no way that's enough people.

Natasha Petrova
•I'm exaggerating but not by much. They're severely understaffed which is why the wait times are insane.

Stop wasting time with that customer service number. I called 300 times in one week, got through once, call dropped. Used an auto-dialer service instead and problem solved.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•300 times?! How is that even possible? That must have taken all day every day.

Javier Hernandez
•Pretty much. I was treating it like a part-time job. That's when I realized paying someone else to do it made sense.

That customer service number connects but good luck staying connected. Their system drops about 40% of calls even when you're on hold.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•40%? Is there any way to prevent the dropped calls or is it just random?
0 coins
Emma Davis
•Completely random from what I can tell. I've had calls drop after 10 minutes and others after 2+ hours. No pattern.

The customer service number works but you need to press the menu options before the prompts finish. Can save 20-30 seconds per call attempt.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•That actually makes sense. Every second counts when you're redialing dozens of times.
0 coins
LunarLegend
•Exactly. When you're making 50+ attempts, those seconds add up to significant time savings.

Don't waste your unlimited calling plan on that customer service number. I hit my carrier's abuse threshold and got temporarily suspended.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•They can suspend you for calling too much? I had no idea that was even a thing.

Malik Jackson
•Yep, after 400+ calls in 3 days they flagged my account as potential spam/robocalling. Had to explain it was EDD.

The customer service number is fine but don't call after 4pm any day. They stop taking new calls even though they're officially open until 5pm.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•So the real hours are 8am-4pm? Why don't they just say that instead of posting 8-5?
0 coins
Isabella Oliveira
•I think they want to finish up existing calls by 5pm so they stop accepting new ones early. Learned this the hard way.

Forget that customer service number unless you enjoy torture. I switched to Claimyr after week 2 of getting nowhere and wish I'd done it from day 1.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•Okay I keep hearing about this service. Is it really that much better than calling yourself?
0 coins
Ravi Patel
•Night and day difference. They handle all the redialing and waiting. You just get a call when there's an agent ready to talk.

That customer service number connects to the same overwhelmed system regardless. I've tried every 'secret' number people post online - they're all the same queue.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•Good to know. I was about to try some other numbers I found but sounds like it's pointless.

•Total waste of time. There's no magic number that bypasses the wait. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.

The customer service number works best Wednesday 2-4pm in my experience. Avoid Fridays completely unless you want to wait until Monday for resolution.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•Why avoid Fridays? Do they not resolve issues on Fridays?
0 coins
Omar Zaki
•They do but if there's any complication, you're stuck waiting over the weekend. Better to call mid-week.

CosmicCrusader
Just got off a call using that customer service number. Took 85 attempts to get through, 2 hour hold, but finally got my issue resolved. Persistence pays off.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•85 attempts?! How long did that take you total?
0 coins
CosmicCrusader
•About 3 days of calling on and off. Not realistic for most people but it can work if you have the time.
0 coins
Yara Khoury
•That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist. Nobody should have to make 85 attempts just to talk to someone.

The customer service number is your only free option but there's nothing free about spending 20+ hours trying to get through. Time is money.
0 coins
CyberSiren
•That's a good point. If I'm missing work to spend all day calling, I'm losing money anyway.
0 coins
Chloe Robinson
•Exactly. Sometimes paying for a solution is actually the cheaper option when you factor in lost time and opportunity cost.
