EDD SDI extension not paid - Doctor paperwork issues?
I'm so frustrated. My doctor extended my disability for an extra 2 weeks, but I haven't gotten paid for those weeks. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not even sure if EDD got the paperwork from my doctor. What should I do when I finally get through to someone on the phone?

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be worse since COVID? I swear it used to be easier to get help.

Yep, they're totally overwhelmed. Budget cuts + more claims = disaster

Just a heads up, make sure you keep detailed records of everything. When you called, who you talked to, what they said. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

I heard some people find success by mailing in their documents with a return receipt request. That might be worth a try.

I had the same issue last year. It took FOREVER to get it sorted out. Here's what I did: • Called my doctor's office and got confirmation they sent the paperwork • Faxed a copy of the extension paperwork myself (keep the confirmation!) • Called EDD every day for a week until I got through • When I finally talked to someone, I had them confirm receipt of both submissions • Asked them to process the extension WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE It was a pain, but I eventually got my money. Good luck!

Great advice! I'll add that it's also helpful to note down names and times because it helps when following up later.

Navigating EDD can be a daunting task, especially with their high call volumes and bureaucracy. Here are some steps to guide you through getting your disability extension processed. First, verify with your doctor that your paperwork was indeed sent to EDD. If possible, ask them for a fax confirmation or any proof of submission. Consider resubmitting the paperwork yourself via fax or mail with a return receipt request to ensure it reaches EDD. It's crucial to maintain a detailed log of every interaction, including dates, times, and names of individuals you speak with at EDD. This record will be beneficial if you need to escalate your case. Claimyr has been mentioned as a solution to ease the long wait times to reach a live representative. While some users find it helpful, others may be hesitant due to the cost. Weighing your options based on your personal circumstances is advisable. Additionally, checking your claim status online can sometimes provide updates before you receive notifications in the mail. If the delays persist, reaching out to a local state representative might expedite your case. Remember, persistence is key, and you're not alone—many others are experiencing similar challenges. Good luck, and I hope your situation gets resolved soon.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. How does it work? Is it legit?

$20 just to talk to EDD? That's highway robbery! 😤

I know it sounds weird, but I swear it's legit. They just automate the hold process. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. Some people say it works great, others not so much. Always good to weigh the cost versus the frustration.

Ugh, been there done that. First thing you need to do is make sure your doc actually sent in the paperwork. They say they did, but half the time they forget or it gets lost in the mail. Call your doctor's office and ask for proof of submission.

Yeah, double-checking with your doctor is a must. Also, ask them to send the paperwork electronically if possible. That way, there's a digital trail.

have you tried faxing the paperwork yourself? sometimes that works better than waiting for your doc to do it

Agreed. Having a physical confirmation receipt from your fax can be useful in case of disputes.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, start dialing at 7:59:59 AM. Sometimes you can get through before the rush.
