EDD SDI extension delay: No updates or payments for 2 months after submitting forms

So I got an extension on my disability from my doctor, and now my effective date has changed. I filled out all the forms they asked for, but I haven't gotten any updates or payments in like 2 months. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm getting worried cause bills are piling up and I don't know what to do. Any advice on how to get through to someone and actually get this sorted out?

I found a way to solve disability extension payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlxY4DacPk0

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD.

I didn't even think of that. How do I find out who my rep is?

Just google "[your city] state representative". They usually have a contact form on their website. Good luck!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there without sending a notice. worth a shot 🤷‍♀️

That's actually how I found out about a delay once. They updated my status online without notifying me directly.

have you tried faxing your forms? sometimes that works better than mailing or online submission. idk why but the system is stuck in 1995 🙄

It's crazy how some systems still prefer fax over more modern methods. It's worth a shot if nothing else is working.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you filled out all the forms correctly? One tiny mistake can hold up the whole process.

Drake

Yeah, I triple-checked everything. Even had a friend look it over. Pretty sure it's all correct.

Oof, then yeah, sounds like classic EDD bs. Sorry you're dealing with this 😕

From my experience, leveraging every available resource is key. The system is notoriously slow, but there are ways to navigate it more effectively. Organizations that advocate for disability rights may also have resources or advice that can assist you.

OMG THIS IS LITERALLY ME RN!!! 😭 I've been waiting for 3 months and radio silence. This system is a joke!

It's infuriating that so many of us are stuck in this situation. We really need to raise awareness and push for better systems.

Okay, listen up. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, forms submitted, and any correspondence. 2. Send a written request for an update via certified mail. This creates a paper trail they can't ignore. 3. If you haven't already, file an appeal. Even if you don't think you need to, it can sometimes kickstart the process. 4. Reach out to your state rep as someone else mentioned. They can often work miracles. 5. Consider contacting local media if things don't improve. Bad press can light a fire under them. 6. Join Facebook groups for disability claimants in your state. They often have insider tips and can provide moral support. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them wear you down. You've got this! 💪

Point 4 and 5 are especially powerful. It's amazing how much attention a representative or media can bring to your case. Don't hesitate to reach out.

Anyone else think its weird how they can cut off our benefits instantly, but takes them forever to start them up again? 🤔 Make it make sense!

It's one of the most frustrating parts of the system. Their priorities seem skewed, and it's unfortunate how it affects those in need.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat for weeks now. It's like they just forget about us once we submit the paperwork. Have you tried calling them?

-

Drake

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through once doing that, but it took like 2 hours on hold 😩

I can relate. Sometimes when I finally get through, they just transfer me to another line where I wait all over again. It's a cycle of frustration.

I swear the system is designed to make us give up. It's a joke how they treat people who are already struggling. Hang in there, OP!

Absolutely agreed. The system needs serious reform, but until then, we have to stick together and support each other.

Hang in there, OP! I know it sucks rn but eventually they'll sort it out. Just keep bugging them!

Exactly! Persistence pays off, even when the system feels like it's working against you.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous! The system is so broken 😡

Is this legit? Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried it?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Claimyr has positive reviews on several forums, but it's important to weigh up whether the cost is worth it, given the expense is out-of-pocket.
