EDD Postpartum Disability Claim Pending for a Month - No Money Received. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my postpartum disability claim. It's been almost a month since the supposed issue date, but I haven't received any money or heard anything back. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm getting really worried and frustrated. Any advice on how to get through to someone at EDD?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD system is such a mess rn. I had a similar issue with my unemployment claim last year. Have you tried calling their hotline? It's a total nightmare, but sometimes you can get lucky if you call right when they open.

I've been trying to call for days now, but I either get a busy signal or it hangs up on me after going through the menu. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: try calling at exactly 8:01 AM. Sometimes you can sneak in before the rush. Good luck!

I actually found a method that works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make this easier for free.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through to a real person. Worth every penny imo.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep redialing or what?

From what I understand, they use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone menu and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it connects to your phone. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending anything out. Also, double-check that they have your correct mailing address on file.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting for my disability payments for over 6 weeks now. The whole system is a joke. I've got bills piling up and no idea when I'll see any money. Hang in there, we're all struggling together. 💪

6 weeks?! That's insane. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too. How are you managing?

Barely scraping by tbh. Had to borrow money from family and max out my credit cards. This system is seriously failing people who need help the most.

Here's what you need to do to expedite your claim: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates, times, and outcomes. 2. Reach out to your local state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can intervene on your behalf with EDD. 3. If you haven't already, file an appeal. This can sometimes trigger a review of your claim. 4. Check if there are any local legal aid organizations that specialize in disability claims. They might be able to offer free advice or assistance. 5. Keep an eye on your online account and respond immediately to any requests for additional information. 6. If you're facing financial hardship, look into emergency assistance programs in your area. Some non-profits and local government agencies offer short-term help. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up, and don't be afraid to escalate your case if needed. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep. Didn't even think of that.

Has anyone had luck with faxing in their documents instead of mailing? I've heard it can speed things up sometimes.

I actually tried this! It did seem to help a bit. Make sure you keep the fax confirmation page as proof.

Just a heads up, there was a system update last month that's been causing delays for a lot of people. Might be worth checking their website for any announcements about it.
