EDD Nightmare: Wrong department, new number (1-800-480-3287) still not working. How to actually reach someone about continued payments?
I called the unemployment office and got transferred to the wrong department. They told me to call back about my continued payment issue, but I'm not getting anywhere. The agent gave me a different number (1-800-480-3287) but it's still not working. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on how to actually get through to the right people?

Ugh, classic EDD runaround. I swear they make it impossible on purpose. I've been trying to reach them for weeks about my claim. It's like they're playing hot potato with our calls π₯π

For real tho! I'm convinced they have a dartboard with random department numbers and just throw darts to decide where to send us π―

Hot potato is right! I've been transferred so many times I feel like I'm on a world tour of the EDD office ππ

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a total mess. Here's what worked for me after weeks of frustration: 1. Call right when they open (8:00 AM) 2. If you get through, ask for a tier 2 specialist immediately 3. Be super nice to the rep, even if you're frustrated 4. Have all your info ready (claim number, dates, etc.) 5. If they can't help, ask them to leave detailed notes on your account for the next rep It took me about 20 tries over 3 days, but I finally got someone who could help. Don't give up!

This is solid advice! I'd add: keep a log of who you talked to and what they said. It helps when you have to explain your situation for the 100th time π

Hey, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call...

I get the skepticism, but after wasting hours on hold, $20 was worth it to me. It worked exactly as advertised. Just sharing what helped me!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes intervene and help push your claim through. Worked for me when I was stuck in EDD limbo for months.

Guys, I think I cracked the code! If you press 2, then 4, then do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around, you MIGHT have a 0.001% chance of talking to a human. Works 60% of the time, every time π

Has anyone else noticed that their system seems to be down every other day? I swear, their tech is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point ππ»

Pro tip: learn morse code. Might come in handy for communicating with EDD in the future. Seems about as effective as their current system οΏ½dotsπΉπΈπΉdashes
