EDD Phone Nightmare: Can't Get Through to an Agent for Days. Any Success Stories or Tips?

I've been trying to get through to unemployment for days now. It's so frustrating! I keep calling and calling but I can't get connected to an agent. Has anyone else been dealing with this? Any tips on how to actually talk to a real person?

I found a way to solve unemployment phone call frustrations, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHGEUFEP0Vg

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to get our benefits or something πŸ™„

For real tho! It's like they're purposely making it hard. I've heard some ppl say to call right when they open, but idk if that actually works

I tried calling at opening time for a week straight. No luck. This system is so broken 😀

Yeah, I've tried all the "tricks" too. Nothing seems to work consistently. It's such a crapshoot

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Interesting. How long did you have to wait before getting connected?

It's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it worked for me. I waited about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. When an agent picked up, my phone rang and I was connected.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. The system is so messed up that we have to pay just to get basic service πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I get it, $20 isn't nothing. But for me, it was worth it to finally get my claim sorted out. Beats wasting hours trying to get through on my own.

Pro tip: try calling on Wednesdays around 2pm. That's when I finally got through after trying for days!

Has anyone else noticed that the hold times seem to be getting worse? I swear it used to be bad, but now it's like impossible to get through 😫

Yep, it's def gotten worse. I think more people are trying to claim benefits with all the layoffs happening

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: β€’ Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. β€’ Try different times of day. Early morning and late afternoon seem to work best. β€’ Use the online portal as much as possible to reduce the need for calls. β€’ If you do get through, be super nice to the agent. They're dealing with a lot too. β€’ Have all your info ready before you call. Account number, SSN, employment history, etc. β€’ If one agent can't help, politely ask to speak to a tier 2 specialist. β€’ Document everything. Write down who you talked to and what they said. β€’ Consider reaching out to your local representative if you're really stuck. Hope this helps someone! We're all in this together πŸ’ͺ

Great advice! I'd add: make sure you're calling the right number for your specific issue. There are different lines for different types of claims.

Contacting my rep actually worked for me! They have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues.

Anyone else feel like they're playing the lottery every time they try to call? 🎰🀑

LOL for real. Except the odds of winning the lottery probably feel better at this point πŸ˜‚

I've started treating it like a game. Every time I get through the menu, I do a little victory dance πŸ’ƒ

I'm so fed up with this. How is it 2023 and we still can't get a decent system for unemployment? Other countries seem to manage just fine. Get it together, America! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Has anyone tried using the virtual assistant on the EDD website? I've heard mixed things about it.

I tried it. It's okay for basic stuff, but anything complicated and you're back to square one trying to reach a human.

The virtual assistant is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot imo πŸ«β˜•

Just a heads up, I heard they're implementing a new phone system soon. Supposedly it'll make it easier to get through. I'll believe it when I see it tho πŸ™„

I saw it on the EDD Twitter account. They're always promising improvements tho, so who knows πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Unpopular opinion: maybe if it wasn't so easy to get benefits, the system wouldn't be so overwhelmed πŸ€”

Dude, seriously? People are struggling out here. Have some compassion.

I'm just saying, there's gotta be a balance. The system is clearly not working as is.
