EDD Money Network card payment delay - holiday affecting normal 6AM deposit?
Has anyone's EDD payment been loaded onto their Money Network card yet today? I usually see the funds hit by 6AM like clockwork, but nothing's showing up in my account. I'm guessing the holiday today is causing some delays with processing? My certification was approved yesterday and typically I'd have the money by now. This is stressing me out since I've got bills automatically coming out tomorrow morning. Anyone else experiencing delays or know if EDD payments are affected by holidays?

•That's a relief to hear it's not just me! Do you know if they've ever been delayed more than a day because of holidays?

The EDD system follows federal banking holidays, so yes, that's likely the cause of your payment delay. Money Network transfers typically process the next business day after the holiday. I'd expect your payment to appear tomorrow morning. If you need emergency access to funds, you can try calling Money Network directly at 866-320-8699 to see if they can provide any estimated timing information.

•The Money Network customer service is terrible tho. They just read from scripts and don't know anything about when EDD actually sends the payments.

I HATE these random delays!!! This happens EVERY SINGLE holiday and EDD never bothers to warn anyone!! Some of us depend on that money hitting our accounts on time to pay bills. My landlord doesn't care if there's a holiday - rent is still due! Why can't they process payments a day EARLY instead of making everyone wait??

•The EDD payment system actually works through the ACH network, which is the same system all banks use for direct deposits. When there's a federal banking holiday, the entire ACH system is closed for processing. It's not an EDD-specific issue - all electronic payments across all systems are affected.

i had this exact problem last month and had to call edd to fix it but couldn't get through for THREE DAYS!! my payment was actually stuck in pending status even though it said approved. turned out there was a flag on my account for an eligibility interview that never even got scheduled! by the time i finally got through to someone my bills were already late. ugh.

•I used Claimyr to get through to EDD when my payments were delayed last month. It got me connected to an actual EDD agent in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Saved me so much frustration and the agent fixed my payment issue right away.

To clarify for everyone: Bank holidays definitely affect the EDD payment schedule. The standard payment timeline is: 1. Certify for benefits (Sunday is recommended) 2. EDD processes claim (usually 24-48 hours) 3. Payment issued to Money Network or direct deposit 4. Funds available (usually next business day after processing) When there's a holiday, step 3 or 4 gets delayed because the banking system itself is closed. This isn't unique to EDD - it affects all government payments. If you certified on Sunday and your payment was approved yesterday, you should see the funds tomorrow morning.

Btw does anybody know if we're supposed to be getting a different card soon? My friend said Money Network is being replaced with some other provider but I can't find any info about this on the EDD website??

•There have been rumors about this for a while, but as of May 2025, Money Network is still the official EDD payment card provider. EDD would send multiple notifications if they were changing card providers - they wouldn't just switch without warning. If anything changes, they'll mail instructions to your address on file and post announcements on the UI Online portal.

Same thing happened to me! My payment usually hits around 5:30 AM but nothing today. I was panicking because I have rent due tomorrow. The holiday explanation makes total sense though - I completely forgot today was a federal holiday. At least now I know to expect delays whenever there's a banking holiday. Thanks for posting this, saved me from calling EDD and waiting on hold for hours!
