UI Certification Confusion: How to Report 40hr Paid Assessment/Stipend?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my UI benefits certification. I just started this 40-hour assessment thing that's paid through a stipend by a government agency. The thing is, I'm not sure how to report this when I'm certifying for UI. The agency told me it's not technically considered work since it's an assessment and they're paying via stipend, but I'm worried about reporting it wrong to UI. Has anyone dealt with something similar? How did you handle reporting stipends or assessments on your UI certification?

It's through a government vocational program. Check with your local Department of Rehabilitation, they might have similar opportunities!
EDD claim denied - exhausted benefits but claim not expired. When to resubmit?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I filed recently and got notified that it's too early to process because my benefits were exhausted on a claim that hasn't expired yet. They told me to contact them again in a few days, but I'm not sure exactly when or how to resubmit. Anyone been through this before or have any advice?

Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your account info, including any past correspondence 2. Call first thing in the morning (like 5 minutes before they open) 3. If you can't get through, try the online chat feature on their website 4. Be persistent! Sometimes it takes a few tries 5. If all else fails, contact your local representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Good luck! The system is a mess, but don't give up. You'll get it sorted eventually.

Welcome to EDD hell, where the rules are made up and your needs don't matter 🤡 Seriously tho, don't give up. Keep calling, keep documenting everything. It's a pain, but you'll get through eventually.

PSA: If anyone's having trouble with their claim, contact your local state representative's office! They have liaisons who can escalate issues with EDD. Helped me break through the bureaucracy when I was stuck in limbo for months.
