I'm so confused about when EDD actually answers their phones. I've been calling the main number (800) 300-5616 at random times and getting nowhere. Some websites say they're open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday but I've called at 2pm on a Wednesday and still got the 'too busy' message after 40+ attempts. Are there specific hours within those hours when they actually take calls? I need to talk to someone about my claim but I'm wasting entire days calling with no luck.
I've been searching everywhere for the correct contact number for EDD and I'm getting so many different numbers online. Called what I thought was the main line (833) 978-7753 yesterday and got stuck in an endless menu loop. Then tried (800) 300-5616 this morning and waited 45 minutes just to get disconnected. Are these even the right numbers? I need to talk to someone about my claim status but I can't figure out which contact number for EDD actually works. Has anyone successfully reached a human recently?
Make sure you're calling from a phone with unlimited minutes if using any contact number for EDD manually. I hit my plan limit after 3 days of constant redialing.
Final update after reading this thread - tried Claimyr this morning and got connected to EDD in 28 minutes. Finally able to fix my claim after 6 weeks of failed manual attempts. Thanks everyone for the advice!
I've been trying to get through to my EDD customer service for over 3 weeks now. Every single day I call the 800-300-5616 number following the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern but I just keep getting that horrible 'we're too busy' message. I've probably made 200+ attempts at this point. My claim has been stuck in pending status and I desperately need to talk to someone about my EDD customer service options. Has anyone actually gotten through recently? I'm starting to think their customer service doesn't even exist.
Update: Finally bit the bullet and paid for the auto-dialer. Got through to my EDD customer service rep in 18 minutes. Kicking myself for not doing this weeks ago.
Reality check: I calculated I spent over 40 hours trying to reach EDD customer service manually. That's a full work week down the drain for a 15-minute conversation.
I'm in Sacramento and have been trying the EDD phone number for almost a week now. I know it's the same statewide number but figured being local might help somehow? Started Monday morning at 8am sharp, called probably 200+ times by now. Keep getting the 'we're too busy' message or it just hangs up on me. My claim got flagged for identity verification and I can't wait anymore - bills are piling up. Has anyone in the Sacramento area had better luck getting through? Maybe there's a local trick I'm missing?
Final tip: If you do get through to hold, DO NOT hang up even if the wait seems crazy long. I waited 2 hours and 45 minutes once but finally talked to someone. The hold music is annoying but stick with it.
Sacramento or not, we're all dealing with the same broken phone system. The location doesn't matter but the timing and persistence do. Good luck to everyone still trying to get through manually.
Definitely check out Claimyr if the manual approach doesn't work. It's a game changer for getting your life back.
I've been searching everywhere for the right EDD phone number to call about my claim. I keep finding different numbers online and I'm not sure which one is current or if some are fake. I tried calling what I thought was the main line but got some weird recording. Can someone confirm the actual EDD phone number I should be using? I need to reach someone about my benefits and don't want to waste time calling the wrong numbers.
I think I paid around $20. No guarantee but their success rate is way higher than manual calling. Check out claimyr.com if you want to see their demo video.
I saw that demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 - really shows how their system works. Pretty impressive tech.
Bottom line: those are the right phone numbers (800-300-5616 or 833-978-7753) but calling manually is brutal. Budget several hours or full days, avoid lunch time and Monday mornings, and be prepared for dropped calls. Or just use an auto-dialer service and save yourself the headache.

The real hours seem to be more like 8:30am-4:30pm with the lunch break. I've never successfully reached anyone before 8:30 or after 4:30, even though they claim to be open until 5pm.

That matches my experience. The official hours are misleading - there's definitely a soft cutoff before 5pm.

Thursday mornings around 9-10am have been my most successful time slot. Got through 3 times in the past month calling Thursday mornings. Still took 30+ attempts each time, but better odds than other days.

Interesting! I'll try Thursday mornings next week. Anything is better than the Monday morning madness.

Yeah, avoid Mondays completely. It's like everyone who couldn't get through over the weekend is calling at once.
