PFL follow-up call tips? What to expect and how to prepare?
Hey everyone, I'm doing a follow-up call for my Paid Family Leave claim. Anyone else in the same boat? Any tips on what to expect or how to make sure it goes smoothly? I'm a bit nervous about it tbh.

Ugh, follow-up calls are the worst. I had to do one last month and it took FOREVER to get through. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready, they'll probably ask for claim numbers and dates and stuff.

ā¢Forreal tho šÆ I waited on hold for like 3 hours last time. It's ridiculous!

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have a better chance of getting through quickly.

I found a way to skip the hold time! I used this site called claimyr.com, it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20 but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢I get it, but for me it was worth every penny. Time is money, ya know? š¤·āāļø

When I did my follow-up, they mostly wanted to confirm the info on my original claim. Make sure you know your last day worked, first day of leave, and expected return date. Oh, and have your doctors info handy too!

Here's a comprehensive guide for your Paid Family Leave follow-up call: ⢠Have your claim number ready ⢠Know your last day worked and first day of leave ⢠Have your expected return-to-work date on hand ⢠Keep your doctor's contact information nearby ⢠Be prepared to explain any changes in your situation ⢠Have a pen and paper ready to take notes ⢠Stay calm and polite, even if the process is frustrating ⢠Ask for a reference number or confirmation of the call ⢠If possible, try to get the name of the representative you speak with Remember, these calls can take a while, so make sure you're in a quiet place with good phone reception. Good luck!

Anyone know if theres a way to check the status of ur claim online? Seems like that would save everyone a lot of time and headaches

ā¢There is! Go to the EDD website and look for the 'Customer Account' section. You can check your claim status there.
