Tips for first-time PFL call? Nervous and need advice!

Hey everyone, I'm about to call about my Paid Family Leave and I'm feeling a bit nervous. Anyone have any tips or advice on what to expect? I've never had to deal with this before and I want to make sure I'm prepared. Any help would be appreciated!

Congrats on the new addition to your family! When I called about my PFL, they mostly just wanted to verify my information and make sure all my paperwork was in order. Make sure you have your claim number handy and any relevant dates (like when you started your leave). Good luck!

Thanks so much! That's really helpful. I'll make sure I have all that info ready to go. Did they ask you anything else specific that I should be prepared for?

They might ask about your employer's info and your doctor's contact details. Oh, and have your social security number ready too. Better to have too much info than not enough, ya know? 😊

Got it, thanks again! I'll gather all that stuff before I call. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly! 🤞

ugh good luck. i've been trying to get through for WEEKS. its like they dont want us to actually use the benefits we're entitled to 🙄

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? 🤔

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to someone about our benefits now? This system is so broken 😡

I get the frustration, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issues resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You'll have a much better chance of getting through without a long wait.

Thanks for the advice! What time do they open?

They open at 8am Pacific Time. Set your alarm and be ready to dial! ⏰

Here's a comprehensive guide for dealing with Paid Family Leave calls: • Have all your documents ready: claim number, SSN, employer info, doctor's details • Write down your questions beforehand so you don't forget anything • Be patient and polite with the representative • Take notes during the call • Ask for a reference number for the call in case you need to follow up • If you don't understand something, ask them to explain it again • Confirm next steps before ending the call Remember, they're there to help you. Don't be afraid to ask questions or seek clarification. Good luck!

Has anyone had experience with extending their PFL? I'm worried I might need more time than I initially thought...

I extended mine last year. You need to file a new claim before your current one ends. Call them ASAP to get the process started!

Oh man, thanks for the heads up! I'll get on that right away. You're a lifesaver! 🙏
