Just got approved for PFL! Any tips or recent experiences?
Hey everyone, I just got approved for paid family leave! I'm so excited and relieved. Has anyone else gone through this process recently? Any tips or things I should know?

Congrats! That's awesome news. I went through it last year when my daughter was born. Make sure you keep all your paperwork organized and submit everything on time. The process can be a bit overwhelming at first.

•Thanks for the advice! Did you have any issues with getting paid on time? I'm a little worried about that part.

•Honestly, it was pretty smooth for me. Payments came through regularly. Just make sure you certify each week/period (depending on your state) and you should be good!

•Not to be a downer, but my experience wasnt as smooth. Took forever to get my first payment. Keep calling if you have any delays!

Congrats on getting approved! 🎉 One tip: if you need to contact them for any reason, be prepared for long wait times. I found a way to skip the hold time tho.

•Oh really? How did you manage that? The hold times are my biggest worry tbh

•I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of waiting. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Congratulations! 🎊 Remember to take care of yourself during this time too. It's not just about the paperwork and money - your health and well-being matter too!

Anyone know if the process is different for bonding leave vs medical leave? I might need to apply soon and I'm not sure which category I fall under.

•Bonding leave is typically for new parents, while medical leave is for your own health condition. The application process is similar, but the documentation needed is different. For bonding, you'll need birth/adoption papers. For medical, you'll need doctor's certification.

Pro tip: Set up direct deposit if you can. It's way faster than waiting for checks in the mail. Also, don't forget about taxes! They don't always withhold enough and you don't wanna be surprised come tax season.

Is it just me or does anyone else think its ridiculous how complicated they make this process? Like, we're already dealing with family stuff, why add all this stress? 🙄

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't this be more streamlined?

•Totally agree. I work in tech and I'm always shocked at how outdated government systems are. Someone needs to disrupt this space!
