PFL callback scheduling nightmare - any tips for managing with a busy schedule?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to apply for paid family leave and I'm having trouble getting through to someone on the phone. I have a busy schedule and I'm worried about missing the call back. Has anyone had any luck scheduling a specific time for a call back or any tips for managing this process with a hectic schedule?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so frustrating! I spent weeks trying to get through. My advice? Just keep calling and hope for the best. It's like playing the lottery š°

ā¢Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late afternoon, even during lunch. No luck. It's a total crapshoot

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢I get it, but for me, it was worth every penny. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned about Paid Family Leave after going through the process: ⢠You can't schedule specific callback times. It's first-come, first-served. ⢠The hold times are usually a few hours, so you have some flexibility. ⢠If you miss the call, you can request another callback within 48 business hours at no extra cost. ⢠Make sure you have all your documents ready before the call. They'll ask for: - Your Social Security number - Your employer's info - Dates of your leave - Doctor's certification (if applicable) ⢠Be prepared to wait. The system is overloaded, especially since COVID. ⢠If possible, try to have a flexible schedule on the day you request a callback. Hope this helps! Good luck with your application.

ā¢Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! This is super helpful. Do you know if theres a way to check the status of my application online?

ā¢Yes, you can check your claim status online through the EDD website. Just log in to your account and look for the 'Claim Status' section. But fair warning, it's not always up to date š

Pro tip: if you cant get thru on the main line, try calling one of the foreign language lines and then ask to be transfered to an english speaking rep. Worked for me!

ā¢State is usually handled through EDD, federal is through your employer. But it depends on your situation. Maybe try r/legaladvice?

LPT: Use a call recording app when you finally get through. That way you have proof of what was said in case there are any issues later.

ā¢Just make sure you tell them you're recording! In some states it's illegal to record without consent

ā¢Good point! Always check your local laws first š
