Need to cancel and resubmit PFL claim due to wrong dates - help!
Hey everyone, I messed up and submitted my paid family leave claim with the wrong dates. Now I need to cancel it and resubmit with the correct info. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any tips on how to handle this smoothly? I'm worried about delays or complications.

Ugh, been there done that. It's a pain but not impossible. First thing, call them ASAP. The sooner you catch it, the easier it is to fix. Make sure you have all your correct dates ready when you call. They might ask for supporting docs too, so have those handy.

This is solid advice. I'd add: write down everything they tell you on the call. Sometimes different reps give different info 🙄

Good luck OP! Let us know how it goes. We're all in this bureaucratic boat together 😅

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😡

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

It took about 45 minutes total, but I was able to do other stuff while waiting for the callback. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try faxing your request to cancel and resubmit. Sometimes old school methods work better with these government agencies lol

Whatever you do, DON'T just submit a new claim without cancelling the old one first. I did that and it caused a huge mess. Took months to sort out. 😫

Has anyone had luck using the online portal to cancel a claim? I've heard mixed things about whether it actually works or not.

I tried it once and it seemed to go through, but then nothing happened. Had to call anyway. YMMV 🤷♂️

The online portal is a joke. Half the features don't work and the other half are buggy af. Just call.

Here's a detailed guide on how to handle this situation: 1. Gather all correct information: Make sure you have the right dates, any supporting documents, and your claim number ready. 2. Contact the Paid Family Leave office: Call them as early in the day as possible. Be prepared for a long wait. 3. Explain the situation clearly: Tell them you need to cancel your current claim due to incorrect dates and submit a new one. 4. Follow their instructions carefully: They might have you fill out a specific form or follow a certain process. 5. Get everything in writing: Ask them to email you confirmation of the cancellation and instructions for resubmitting. 6. Submit the new claim: Do this as soon as possible after cancelling the old one. 7. Follow up: If you don't hear anything within a week, call again to check on the status. Remember, stay patient and persistent. The system can be frustrating, but you'll get through it!

Great advice. I'd add: keep a log of every interaction, including names of reps you speak to and dates/times of calls.

For real. In 2023, this should all be doable online in like 5 minutes tops.

Quick question - how long ago did you submit the incorrect claim? If it's been less than 24 hours, you might be able to catch it before it's fully processed.

I submitted it yesterday afternoon, so it's been about 18 hours. Hopefully that's soon enough!
