Need help getting a real case update from EDD - what to ask?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my case but I'm not sure what to say when I finally get through to an agent. Has anyone had any luck getting useful information? What should I ask to make sure I get a real update and not just a generic response?

Ugh, I feel you. Getting through to an agent is like winning the lottery these days. When I finally got someone on the line, I made sure to have my case number ready and asked for specific details about the status of my claim. Don't let them give you vague answers!

This! šŸ‘† Having your case number is key. I also asked about any pending documents or actions needed on my end. Sometimes there's stuff they're waiting on but never told you about šŸ™„

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely have my case number ready. Fingers crossed I get someone who actually knows what's going on šŸ¤ž

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam to get our info?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to connect the call.

can confirm, used it last week. felt kinda silly paying for a phone call but man.it saved me so much time and frustration

Pro tip: keep a log of every interaction you have with them. Date, time, agent name (if they give it), and what was discussed. It's come in handy for me multiple times when one agent says something different from another.

Anyone else feel like we're just screaming into the void with these case updates? I swear, every time I call it's like they've never heard of me before. 🤔

Mood. I've been trying to get an update for 3 months now. At this point, I'm convinced my case file is just a blank piece of paper with a frowny face drawn on it.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this system for way too long: • Always ask for a ticket number or reference number for your call. This helps track your inquiries. • Request a detailed breakdown of your case status, including any pending items. • Ask about estimated timeframes for the next steps. • If possible, get an email confirmation of what was discussed during the call. • If the agent can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor or someone who can access more detailed information. • Keep your cool, even when it's frustrating. The person on the other end usually isn't the one causing the delays. Remember, persistence is key. Don't be afraid to follow up if you don't see progress after a week or two. Good luck!

Has anyone tried reaching out to their local representative? I've heard some people have had luck getting things moving that way.

I did! Took a few weeks, but their office was actually able to light a fire under someone and get my case reviewed. Might be worth a shot if you're really stuck.

wait, we can do that? how do you even find out who your local rep is?

Just Google '[your state] find my representative'. Most states have a website where you can enter your address and it'll show you who represents your district. Worth a try!

Hang in there, friend. We're all in the same sinking boat. Have you tried any of the advice from the other comments? Might be worth giving them another call.
