EDD Paid Family Leave Stuck on 'Pending Medical Provider Form' - Need Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my paid family leave claim. The web portal just says 'pending medical provider form' but I've already made sure everything is updated. Has anyone else dealt with this? It's been weeks and I really need this money. Also, I want to switch from the debit card to direct deposit. Any advice?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last month. Have you double-checked with your doctor to make sure they actually submitted the form? Sometimes they say they did but it gets lost in the shuffle.

β’Yeah, I called my doctor's office twice to confirm. They swear they sent it in, but who knows what's happening on the other end π€·ββοΈ

β’Oof, that's frustrating. Maybe try asking for a copy of the form from your doctor and submitting it yourself? Sometimes taking matters into your own hands is the only way to get things done with these bureaucrats π

β’I had the same issue! Turns out my doctor's office faxed it to the wrong number. Double check the fax number they used, it might save you some headache

I've been dealing with the EDD for months now, and let me tell you, it's a nightmare. Here's what I've learned: β’ Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit β’ Call them early in the morning, right when they open β’ Be persistent, sometimes you have to call multiple times β’ Ask for a supervisor if the regular rep can't help β’ Check your online account daily for updates As for changing to direct deposit, you should be able to do that through your online account. Look for something like 'Update Payment Preference' or 'Payment Options'. If you can't find it, call them and they can walk you through it. Hang in there, it's a frustrating process but you'll get through it!

β’This is solid advice right here π― Especially the part about keeping copies. I learned that the hard way!

have you tried going down to the office in person? sometimes face-to-face interaction can speed things up

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

β’I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

β’20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep just to talk to someone...

β’I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was losing way more than $20 in wasted time and stress trying to get through on my own.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

β’I hadn't even thought of that! Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

β’Just google '[your area] state representative' and you should find their contact info. Usually they have a form on their website for constituent services. Good luck!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My claim has been stuck on "pending medical provider form" for over 2 weeks. I called my doctor's office and they confirmed they submitted it, but EDD says they never received it. It's so frustrating because I really need this money to cover my bills while I'm caring for my family member. For the direct deposit switch, I was able to find it in my online account under "Payment Information" - it took a few days to process but it worked. Way better than dealing with that debit card! Has anyone had luck with faxing the form directly to EDD instead of having the doctor do it? I'm thinking about asking my doctor for a copy so I can send it myself.

β’@Freya Collins I m'in a really similar boat! Been waiting almost 3 weeks now and it s'driving me crazy. I think faxing it yourself is definitely worth a shot - at least then you ll'know for sure it got sent. Do you happen to know what the fax number is for EDD? I ve'been searching their website but it s'like trying to find a needle in a haystack π© Thanks for the tip about the direct deposit being under Payment "Information -" I ll'check that out!

β’@Malik Johnson I had to dig around for it, but I found the fax number! It s'1-916-464-3200. I actually ended up doing exactly what you re'thinking - got a copy from my doctor and faxed it myself last week. Still waiting to see if it helps, but at least I have peace of mind knowing it actually got sent. The website is absolutely terrible for finding basic info like this. Hope this helps and fingers crossed we both get through this mess soon! π€

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My claim has been stuck on "pending medical provider form" for about 3 weeks. What's really frustrating is that I called EDD and they told me the form was never received, but when I called my doctor's office, they swear they faxed it weeks ago. I ended up asking my doctor for a copy of the completed form so I could fax it directly myself - that way I know for sure it gets to them. The fax number for EDD medical forms is 1-916-464-3200 if that helps anyone else in this situation. Also, @Cole Roush for the direct deposit switch, log into your online account and look under "Payment Information" or "Profile" - there should be an option to update your payment method. It took about 5 business days to take effect for me, but it's so much better than dealing with that clunky debit card system. Hang in there everyone, this bureaucratic nightmare will eventually sort itself out! π€

β’@Diego Chavez Thank you so much for sharing that fax number! I ve'been searching everywhere for it. It s'crazy that we have to become detectives just to get basic information from EDD. I m'definitely going to try the same approach - getting a copy from my doctor and faxing it myself. At this point, I don t'trust anyone else to handle it properly. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it gives me hope that there s'light at the end of this tunnel! π

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Been stuck on "pending medical provider form" for almost a month. What's really helped me is keeping a detailed log of every interaction - dates I called, who I spoke with, confirmation numbers, etc. One thing that worked for me was calling EDD and asking them to give me the EXACT date and time they show the form was supposed to be received. Then I took that info back to my doctor's office and had them check their fax logs. Turns out there was a transmission error on their end that they didn't even know about! Also pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right at 8:00 AM sharp. I set multiple alarms and called the second it hit 8 - got through on the second try. For the direct deposit, once you're in your online account, look for "Benefit Payment Preferences" - it might be buried in the settings menu. The whole interface is pretty clunky but it's definitely doable. Stay strong everyone, we'll get through this bureaucratic maze eventually! πͺ
