EDD PFL date mismatch: Applied 11/8-11/29, only approved till 11/24. Help!
I'm so confused about my Paid Family Leave dates. I applied for PFL from November 8th to November 29th, 2024, but the statement I got from EDD only covers me until November 24th. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of date mismatch? I'm worried about how this might affect my benefits. Any advice on how to handle this?

Ugh, classic EDD mixup. I had something similar happen with my disability claim. You need to call them ASAP and get it straightened out. The longer you wait, the more of a headache it'll be.

•Oh trust me, I know the pain. Took me like 50 tries to get through last time. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do 🤷♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not having to sit on hold for hours was totally worth it

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Make sure you have copies of your original application and the statement from EDD. 2. Call EDD and explain the discrepancy. Be polite but firm. 3. Ask for a supervisor if the first person you talk to can't help. 4. If they can't resolve it over the phone, request a written explanation of why the dates were changed. 5. Consider filing an appeal if they won't correct it. Remember, mistakes happen, but you have the right to the full period you applied for if you're eligible. Don't let them shortchange you!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every call you make - date, time, who you spoke to. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

have you checked your online account? sometimes the letters they send are outdated but the online info is correct

This happened to me last year! Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was cutting off PFL claims at exactly 16 days. Took forever to get it fixed, but they eventually did. Hang in there!

•Oh wow, that's interesting. Did they fix it automatically or did you have to keep bugging them?

•Had to bug them for weeks 😩 But once they acknowledged the glitch, they fixed it pretty quick. Keep pushin!

Ive been dealing with EDD for 3 years now and I swear they make these "mistakes" on purpose to save money. Stay vigilant and don't let them get away with it!

•Tin foil hat much? 🙄 It's probably just understaffing and outdated systems

•Call it what you want, but I've seen too many "coincidences" to believe its all innocent mistakes
