EDD denied disability due to PFL conflict - Need advice on returning funds ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I got denied for my disability application because of conflicting dates with my PFL (Paid Family Leave) claim. The EDD told me I need to return my PFL funds before they can even look at my appeal for the disability denial. Has anyone been through this before? What's the best way to return the PFL money and get this sorted out? I'm really stressed about this whole situation and could use some advice.

Ugh, that sucks! The EDD can be such a pain to deal with. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD and tell them you need to return PFL funds 2. Ask for specific instructions on how to process the overpayment 3. Get all your docs together that show you're gonna pay it back 4. Once you've returned the money, follow up about your appeal Good luck! The system is so broken, but hang in there.

•This is solid advice. I had to do something similar last year. Just be prepared for long wait times when you call EDD. It's a nightmare 😫

•Quick question - how long did it take for them to process your repayment? I'm in a similar boat and wondering how long I'll be in limbo.

•It took about 3 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Keep bugging them if it takes too long!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call 🤔

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo. They even refund you if it doesn't work.

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape and get things moving faster with EDD.

•That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

•Just google '[your city] state representative' and you should find their office contact info. Usually they have staff dedicated to helping with these kinds of issues.

Protip: When you return the money, make sure to get a receipt or some kind of written confirmation. You'll need that proof later when you're dealing with the appeal process. Trust me, I learned this the hard way 🙄

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing your request? I know it's 2023, but sometimes the old school methods work better with government agencies. Just a thought! 📠

I've been dealing with EDD for months now and I swear they change the rules every other day. It's like trying to hit a moving target while blindfolded. Sending positive vibes your way, OP. We're all in this struggle together. 💪

I went through something similar last year! The key is to be super persistent and document EVERYTHING. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the EDD overpayment department directly (not the general line) - the number should be on your notice 2. Ask them to email you the specific repayment instructions 3. Keep records of every call (date, time, rep name, reference numbers) 4. Once you send the payment, follow up weekly until they confirm it's processed The whole thing took about 6 weeks for me, but having that paper trail saved my butt when they tried to say I never paid it back. Don't give up - you've got this! 🙏
