EDD PFL: No response after sending extra doctor verification paperwork - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my FMLA benefits. I sent in some extra paperwork to verify my doctor about a month ago, but I haven't heard anything back. I'm getting worried about my claim status. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what I should do next or what questions I should ask when I finally get through to someone?

Authoritative Comment: Navigating the labyrinth of FMLA benefits can be a daunting task, especially when communication with the concerned authorities is delayed. First and foremost, ensure all your paperwork is thoroughly completed and submitted. When reaching out via phone, persistence is key, and options like using services such as Claimyr can be beneficial despite the cost, especially if you're in urgent need of assistance. Simultaneously, leveraging local representatives' influence can sometimes expedite the process. Document every interaction meticulously; this will serve as your best evidence in case of discrepancies. Finally, consider the time when you're calling. Early morning calls might yield better results, and mid-week days usually have less traffic. While services like Claimyr can be very effective, it's important to balance their use with awareness that such services should ideally be unnecessary. The hope is that systems improve to negate the need for such tools. Until then, stay patient, organized, and proactive in your follow-ups.

The struggle is real. Sometimes all we can do is support each other through it.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're documenting EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. It's a pain, but it can really help if things get messy later on. Trust me, I learned this the hard way.

Absolutely vital. Keep digital copies too, in case papers get misplaced.

You nailed it. It's a bureaucratic labyrinth we all have to navigate with little guidance. 😩

Ugh, I feel ya. The whole system is a mess rn. I've been waiting for 3 months to hear back about my claim. It's like they just throw our paperwork into a black hole or something.

I know the feeling. It's like we're in limbo with no updates. Have you tried reaching out to anyone else for help?

Here's what you need to ask when you finally get someone on the phone: 1. Confirm they received your documents 2. Ask about the current status of your claim 3. See if they need anything else from you 4. Get a timeframe for when you can expect a decision Good luck! The system is a mess but hang in there.

Thanks so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely use these questions when I finally get through.

Great advice! I'd also add: make sure to get the name of who you talk to and ask for a reference number for the call. It helps if you need to follow up later.

Yes, having a paper trail and names is super important. It adds accountability on their end too.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20??? That's highway robbery! We shouldn't have to pay to get basic services 😤

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny imo. And yeah, it sucks we have to pay, but I'd rather pay $20 than waste days trying to get through.

While it does work, it's a shame that there's a need for such a service. Hopefully, they improve their own systems soon.

Careful, with our luck they'd probably lose the sacrifice paperwork too 💀

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along. Worth a shot if you're really stuck.

Good point. Reps can sometimes expedite things, especially if delays are widespread.

PROTIP: If you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Set your alarm and be ready to dial at 8:00:01 AM!

This! Also, Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be less busy than Mondays or Fridays. Good luck!

I've had better luck on Wednesdays. It seems to be the sweet spot for calling.

Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes you gotta be persistent. I had to call like 50 times before I got through, but once I did, they sorted it out pretty quick.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but no luck so far. It's so frustrating. How long did you have to wait on hold when you finally got through?

Oof, it was brutal. I think I was on hold for like 2 hours. But hey, at least I got it sorted. Just keep trying, you'll get there!

I had the same experience. It's exhausting, but persistence pays off. Keep a book or something handy while you're on hold!
