EDD Family Leave Claim: Will they contact me or do I need to keep calling?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an EDD Family Leave Claim and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this? Will they contact me again or do I need to keep calling? It's been a few days since I submitted my claim and I haven't heard anything back. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, EDD is such a pain to deal with. I filed for family leave last year and it took FOREVER to hear back. Keep calling them, squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that. Good luck!

Agreed! I had to call like 50 times before I got through. Its ridiculous how understaffed they are.

Really? I must've gotten lucky then. Only took me 3 calls to get someone on the line. Guess I should buy a lottery ticket lol π

In my experience, they usually contact you within 2 weeks of filing. But if you're worried, it doesn't hurt to give them a call. Just be prepared to wait on hold for a while.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

They don't guarantee it, but in my experience it worked great. You just put in your number and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me from listening to that awful hold music for hours π

Make sure you've submitted all the required documentation. They won't process your claim if anything's missing. Double check everything on their website.

Thanks for the tip! I'll go over everything again to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You're more likely to get through before the lines get jammed up. Also, Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason. π€·ββοΈ

I've been dealing with EDD for months now and let me tell you, it's a NIGHTMARE. Here's what I've learned: β’ Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit β’ Write down the name of every person you talk to β’ Follow up every phone call with an email summarizing what was discussed β’ If you're not getting anywhere, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. β’ Be persistent but polite. The people on the other end are probably overworked and underpaid. β’ Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process but you'll get through it eventually!

Anyone else think its crazy that in 2023 we still have to jump through all these hoops just to get basic government services? SMH π€¦ββοΈ

For real. My grandma could design a better system than this, and she still uses a flip phone.

Hey OP, what's your reason for family leave if you don't mind sharing? Different reasons can have different processing times.

It's for taking care of my dad after his surgery. Does that usually take longer?

In my experience, caregiving claims can take a bit longer because they often need to verify the family relationship and medical necessity. Hang in there!
