PFL claim stuck for 5 weeks - no response from EDD. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my Paid Family Leave claim. I submitted all the paperwork about 5 weeks ago, but I haven't heard a peep from EDD. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm starting to get worried and could use some advice on what to do next. Should I call them? Is there a way to check the status online? Any tips would be appreciated!

Ugh, welcome to the club! 🙄 I swear EDD moves at a snail's pace. I was in the same boat a few months ago. My advice? Keep calling them. It's annoying af but it's the only way to get answers. Good luck!

Calling them is like trying to win the lottery tho. I spent HOURS on hold and never got through. There has to be a better way!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You just put in your phone # on their site, pay, and they start calling EDD. When they get a real person, your phone rings. No guarantee, but it worked for me first try.

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes they update it there before sending any notifications. Go to the EDD website and look for the 'Check Claim Status' option. Might save you some time and stress!

5 weeks is nothing, buddy. I've been waiting for 3 MONTHS. The system is completely FUBAR. 🤬 Good luck, you're gonna need it.

3 months?! That's insane! Have you tried contacting your local representative? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

Yep, tried everything. Rep's office said they're 'looking into it'. Whatever that means. 🙄

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure EVERYTHING is filled out correctly. One tiny mistake can cause major delays. 2. Try calling first thing in the morning, right when they open. You might have better luck getting through. 3. Use the online portal to send a message. Sometimes they respond faster that way. 4. If all else fails, contact your state representative. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along. 5. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say. Good luck!

Just a heads up, there was a system upgrade last month that caused some delays. Might be why you're waiting longer than usual. Hang in there!

Pro tip: if you do manage to get someone on the phone, be super nice to them. These people deal with angry callers all day. A little kindness can go a long way in getting your issue resolved quickly. 😊
