PFL claim submitted 2 months ago, got NoC but no payment. EDD website shows no status. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I submitted my Paid Family Leave claim about 2 months ago and got the Notice of Computation, but I still haven't seen a dime. The EDD website isn't showing any status updates either. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what I should do next or who I should talk to? I'm starting to get worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I swear they're always behind on everything. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call, but it's impossible to get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

30 minutes? You got lucky! I was on hold for 3 hours last week 😭

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

$20 just to talk to someone? The system is so broken 🤦♂️

I know it sucks to pay, but for me, it was worth it to finally get answers and move my claim forward.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD persistently. Use the trick of calling right at 8 AM when they open. 2. Check your online account daily for any updates or requests for additional information. 3. Make sure all your documents are in order and easily accessible. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via their online messaging system. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 6. Document everything - dates you called, who you spoke to, what was said. 7. If it's been more than 3 weeks since your Notice of Computation, something might be holding up your claim. It could be identity verification or employer confirmation. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

This is solid advice. I'd add: check if there are any EDD workshops in your area. Sometimes they have in-person events where you can get help.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your mailing address is up to date in their system.

Good idea, I'll double-check my spam. My address is correct tho, I made sure of that when I applied.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was a problem with my identity verification. Once I got that sorted, the payments started coming through. Might be worth asking about that specifically when you get someone on the phone.

Same here! The ID verification process is such a pain. Took me weeks to get it straightened out.

How did you guys know there was an ID verification issue? Did they notify you or did you have to ask?

In my case, I had to ask. They didn't notify me at all, which was super annoying. Always worth checking!

This might sound weird, but have you tried reaching out to EDD on Twitter? Sometimes their social media team is more responsive than their phone lines.

For real? That's wild. What a time to be alive when tweeting at a government agency is more effective than calling them 😂

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat with my unemployment claim. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Have you considered applying for emergency assistance through local charities or your county's social services while you wait for EDD to get their act together? Might help with those bills piling up.

That's a good suggestion, thanks. I'll look into what's available in my area.

Plot twist: EDD is actually run by sloths. That's why everything takes forever. 🦥

Hey now, don't insult sloths like that. They're way more efficient than EDD! 😂
