Tips for calling EDD about PFL claim status and refund? Need advice for faster response
Hey everyone, I'm calling EDD about my Paid Family Leave claim status. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm trying to get an update and find out if there's anything else I need to do. Also, I'm wondering about when I'll get my refund. Any tips on what to say or ask when I finally get through to someone?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yep, 100% legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken π€¦ββοΈ

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for hours was totally worth it.

Balancing cost and time is important. For some, the cost is justified if it saves significant time and frustration.

In response to the original post, Claimyr offers an innovative solution by allowing users to bypass the extensive hold times typically associated with EDD inquiries. The service, while costing $20, can be worth it for those who value time over money, especially when dealing with the notoriously busy EDD lines. However, it's important to be aware that the service is not a guarantee for a resolution of your claim issues; it only facilitates faster access to a representative. Before considering Claimyr, ensure your claim issues aren't resolvable through the online EDD portal or by checking FAQs. This way, you reserve the paid service as a last resort and make sure any information you receive is documented. Ultimately, while Claimyr provides an option to circumvent long waits, it's not a magic fix for systemic delays in EDD processes.

Plot twist: the hold music is actually a subliminal message to make us give up and hang up π€

have you tried checking your claim status online? sometimes its faster than calling

Yeah, I tried that first but it wasn't showing any updates. That's why I'm resorting to calling π©

Ah gotcha. Yeah their online system can be hit or miss. Calling is probably your best bet then.

True, but sometimes if you persist with the online system, you might catch an update before it's reflected elsewhere.

Anyone else feel like they should get a PhD in "EDD-ology" after all this? π We're all experts now lmao

Make sure you have your EDD Customer Account Number ready when you call. They always ask for that first. Also, have all your claim details handy - dates, employer info, etc. It'll save you time once you finally get through.

Great advice! I've also found that having a list of specific questions prepared can help keep the call efficient.

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You're more likely to get through quickly.

Friendly reminder to everyone: be nice to the EDD reps when you finally get through. They're dealing with a broken system too and probably hate it as much as we do.

Here's what you need to know about PFL claims and refunds: β’ PFL Claim Status: Ask for a detailed update on your claim. Find out if it's been approved, pending, or if they need any additional information from you. β’ Required Actions: Sometimes they need extra documentation. Make sure to ask if there's anything you need to submit or any forms you need to fill out. β’ Payment Timeline: If your claim is approved, ask when you can expect to receive payments. PFL benefits are usually paid every two weeks. β’ Refund Process: If you're expecting a refund, confirm that it has been processed. Ask for the exact date it was issued. β’ Refund Timeline: As someone else mentioned, refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear in your account after processing. However, this can vary depending on your bank. β’ Contact Information: Make sure they have your correct mailing address and bank info for direct deposit. β’ Appeal Process: If your claim was denied, ask about the appeal process and deadlines. Remember to take notes during your call and get the name of the representative you speak with. Good luck!

When I called about my PFL claim, they told me refunds usually take 5-10 business days to show up in your account after they're processed. Depends on your bank tho.
