EDD Paid Family Leave claim issues - Need help reaching a human!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paid family leave claim and I need to get in touch with EDD. I've been trying to reach them but no luck so far. Has anyone had any success getting through to them lately? I'm not sure if my problem is about processing delays or missing documents. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, EDD is such a nightmare to deal with. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits š

Right? Like, do they even have real people working there or is it just a bunch of robots ignoring our calls? š¤

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken š¤

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I finally got through. Worth every penny imo

Interesting. How long did you have to wait once the call was connected?

It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. The service called me when an agent picked up.

Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that's faster than waiting for them to process mailed stuff.

I've been dealing with EDD for my paid family leave claim for the past 3 months. Here's what I've learned: ā¢ Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them ā¢ Use certified mail if you're sending physical documents ā¢ Check your online account daily for updates ā¢ If you can, try to use their online portal to submit documents ā¢ Be persistent and don't give up! It's a slow process, but hang in there. If you're missing any documents, they should send you a notice. Make sure your address is up to date in their system.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely make sure to keep copies of everything. Do you know how long it typically takes for them to process a claim?

In my experience, it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for initial processing. But if there are any issues or missing docs, it can drag on for months. Stay on top of it!

Has anyone tried reaching out to their local state representative? I've heard sometimes they can help push things along with EDD.

I did this! It actually helped a lot. My rep's office contacted EDD on my behalf and things started moving much faster after that.

Wow, I never thought of that. How do you even find your local rep?

Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have websites with contact info. Don't be shy, they're there to help!

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate the EDD system? šš¤¦āāļø
