EDD Baby Bonding Leave: Tips for getting through to someone ASAP?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to take the last couple weeks of my baby bonding leave but I'm having trouble getting through to someone at EDD. Has anyone had any luck recently? Any tips on how to get this sorted out quickly? I'm worried about missing out on this important time with my little one.

Congrats on the new baby! 🎉 I went through this a few months ago. It can be a real headache dealing with EDD. When did you file your claim? That might affect how quickly they can process it.

•Thanks! I filed about 3 weeks ago, but haven't heard anything back yet. Is that normal?

•3 weeks is a bit long, but not unheard of. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that can speed things up. Also, check your spam folder for any emails from EDD - they love to hide there for some reason.

•Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open at 8am 2. If you can't get through, keep trying every 15 minutes 3. Have all your docs ready before you call 4. Be super nice to the rep (they deal with angry people all day) 5. Follow up with an email after your call It took me a few days of trying, but I finally got it sorted. Don't give up!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. It helps if you need to escalate later.

anyone else feel like we need a complete overhaul of the EDD system? its ridiculous that new parents have to jump through so many hoops just to get their benefits. we should be focusing on our babies, not battling bureaucracy!

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system is broken. We need to vote for people who will actually fix this mess.

•100% agree. Its a joke. other countries have it so much better when it comes to parental leave

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling one of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm!

Hang in there, OP! I know it's stressful, but you'll get it sorted. Don't let EDD drama take away from this special time with your little one. Sending positive vibes your way! ❤️

•Thank you so much! It's easy to get caught up in the frustration, but you're right - I need to focus on what's important. Appreciate the reminder 😊
