EDD Application Stuck in Processing for 2+ Weeks, Can't Verify Identity Over Phone - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my unemployment application. It's been over 2 weeks since I filed and it's still showing as 'processing'. I tried calling them but when I gave my social security number, they said they couldn't identify me. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next? I'm getting worried because I really need this money soon.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I was stuck in processing for like a month! Have you tried checking your spam folder for any emails from them? Sometimes they send requests for additional info that get lost.

•Thanks for the tip! I just checked my spam folder but didn't see anything from EDD. This is so frustrating 😫

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically they use some tech to navigate the phone tree and then wait on hold. When an agent answers, they forward the call to your phone. It's pretty slick!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open (8am) 2. If you get the 'too many callers' message, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get in the queue 4. Have ALL your docs ready (SSN, claim number, etc.) 5. Be super nice to the rep (they deal with angry people all day) 6. Ask them to notate your account It took me a few tries, but I finally got through and sorted everything out. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: if you have any faxed documents, bring up the fax confirmation. Sometimes they 'lose' faxes 🙄

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting for 3 weeks now. This system is a joke. How are we supposed to survive when they can't even process our claims on time? 🤬

•Preach! 👏 The government expects us to pay our bills on time, but they can't even process our claims within a reasonable timeframe. Make it make sense!

Pro tip: reach out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help push your claim through faster. Worked for me when I was stuck in limbo for weeks.

•Wow, I never thought of that! How do I find my local rep?

•Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Explain your situation and they should get back to you pretty quick.

Hey, former EDD employee here. The identity verification issue is pretty common. Make sure you're using the EXACT name that's on your social security card. Even small differences can cause problems. Also, double-check that you entered your SSN correctly on the application. One wrong digit can mess everything up.

•Thank you for the insider info! I'll double-check everything. Quick question - if I find a mistake, can I correct it online or do I have to call?

•Unfortunately, most corrections need to be done over the phone. But knowing exactly what needs to be fixed can make the call go much smoother.
