SDI extension filed by provider - How to ensure 7-week coverage when not on PFL?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI benefits. My provider filed for an extension until April 10th, and I need to make sure SDI covers this 7-week period since I wasn't on PFL. I've already received some notices from EDD, but I'm not sure if everything's set up correctly in their system. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice on what to say when I call them? I'm worried about missing out on payments I should be getting.

Ugh, dealing with EDD is always a nightmare. Here's what I'd do: 1. Call them ASAP. Don't wait. 2. Explain the situation clearly: provider filed extension, you need SDI for 7 weeks, not on PFL. 3. Ask them to verify if the system shows the extension. 4. Get them to confirm you'll receive payments for this period. 5. Ask what docs they might need from you. 6. If anything's unclear, make them explain it again. Good luck! The system's a mess, but hopefully you'll get someone helpful.

•This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during the call and get the rep's name. It helps if you need to follow up later.

I was in the same boat last year. It took forever to get it sorted out. Make sure you keep ALL your paperwork and follow up regularly. Don't trust that they'll handle it automatically.

•This. I learned the hard way that 'automatically' means 'never' in EDD speak 🙄

•Oof, that's what I was afraid of. How long did it take you to get it resolved?

•It took about 2 months of back and forth. Stay persistent!

Have you tried reaching out to your state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

lol good luck. EDD is a black hole where claims go to die. I've been waiting 3 months for them to fix a 'system error' on my claim. 🤮

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing baseball and we all struck out before even getting to bat.

•3 months? Amateur hour. Try 6 months and counting ðŸ˜

Quick question - did your provider submit the extension electronically or by mail? I've heard electronic submissions get processed faster.

•They did it electronically. At least that's one thing going for me!

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just an ad?

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Used it twice now. Beats spending hours on hold or getting hung up on.

•Can confirm, it works. Pricey but worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

PSA: There's a new online portal for checking claim status. Might be worth looking into before you call. Sometimes it has more up-to-date info than the reps.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll def check that out before I call. Every bit of info helps.
