Random calls about SDI payment - no reply when answered. Anyone else?

Has anyone else been getting random phone calls about their disability payment? I just got one where I answered and waited, but there was no reply or anything. It's really frustrating because I'm waiting on important info about my payment. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ugh, yes! This has been happening to me too. It's so annoying because you never know if it's actually important or just another robocall. I've been waiting on my disability payment for weeks now and every time my phone rings, I get my hopes up 🤡

I tried calling back but just got stuck in an endless phone tree. 🌴 Feels like I'm going in circles!

Pro tip: write down the number and google it. Sometimes it'll show up as a legit government number, other times it's just spam.

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line.

This whole system is broken af. Why do we even have to jump through so many hoops just to get what we're entitled to? 🤬

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming.

I've been saying this for years. We need to organize and demand better service!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for months: 1. Always document everything. Write down dates, times, and names of who you talk to. 2. Be persistent. Keep calling, even if it's frustrating. 3. Check your online account regularly for updates. 4. If possible, submit documents online rather than mailing them. 5. Reach out to your local representative if you're getting nowhere. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums for support and tips from others in the same boat. Hope this helps someone! We're all in this together. 💪

This is gold! 💯 Thanks for sharing your experience. Wish I knew all this when I started my claim.

Great advice! I'd add: don't be afraid to ask for a supervisor if you're not getting anywhere with the first person you talk to.

Has anyone tried contacting them through social media? Sometimes companies are more responsive there because it's public.

I'm so tired of this. Been waiting 3 months for my payment. How are we supposed to survive?

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local news station? Sometimes public pressure helps.

Thats a good idea actually. Might give it a shot if I dont hear back soon. thanks!

Yes! I've been getting these phantom calls too. So frustrating - they call, you answer quickly thinking it might be important news about your claim, and then... nothing. Just dead air. I've started letting unknown numbers go to voicemail first, but then I worry I'm missing something urgent. It's like they're playing with our anxiety when we're already stressed about our payments. Has anyone figured out if these are legit EDD calls that just have technical issues, or if they're scam calls targeting people waiting for disability benefits?

I'm dealing with the exact same thing! Just started my disability claim process last week and already getting these weird silent calls. It's nerve-wracking because you never know if it's legitimate or not. I've been wondering if maybe their phone system is just outdated and glitchy? Either way, it definitely feels like they're messing with people who are already going through a tough time. Maybe we should all start a log of these calls - date, time, number - to see if there's a pattern?

I've been getting these exact same calls! Started about 2 weeks ago - phone rings, I answer expecting maybe some news about my claim status, but then just silence. It's so stressful because when you're waiting for disability payments, every call feels like it could be "the call" with important updates. I've started googling the numbers when they call, and some of them do show up as potential EDD numbers, but others are just random. The worst part is not knowing if you're missing something important by not answering. I think we should definitely start documenting these - maybe there's a pattern or we can figure out which ones are legit vs scam calls targeting disability claimants.

This is exactly what I've been experiencing too! Just started my claim a few days ago and already got two of these silent calls. The timing feels suspicious - like somehow scammers know when people file new disability claims. I agree we should document these calls. Maybe we could create a shared spreadsheet or something? It would help us figure out which numbers are actually from EDD vs potential scams. The anxiety of not knowing if you're missing something important is the worst part of this whole process.

I've been dealing with this exact issue for the past month! Getting 2-3 calls per day from numbers that look like they could be EDD-related, but when I answer it's just dead silence or sometimes a weird clicking sound before they hang up. What's really frustrating is that I'm still waiting on my initial determination letter, so every time the phone rings my heart jumps thinking it might be someone with updates about my case. I've started screenshotting the numbers and times - so far I've gotten calls from at least 6 different numbers that all seem to follow the same pattern. The worst part is wondering if one of these silent calls was actually a legitimate EDD worker who got disconnected and I missed my chance to talk to someone real. Has anyone tried calling these numbers back to see if they're actually connected to EDD?

I tried calling a few of those numbers back and most of them just go to a "number not in service" message or some generic voicemail. One actually connected to what sounded like a legit EDD line but then I got stuck in the automated system for like 45 minutes before giving up. It's so messed up that we have to play detective just to figure out if we're getting real calls or scams when we're already stressed about our claims. Maybe we should all start reporting these numbers to EDD directly? At least then they'd know their system might have issues or that scammers are targeting disability claimants.

This is so relatable! I've been getting these phantom calls for about 3 weeks now - usually 1-2 per day from different numbers that look official but then just dead silence when I answer. The timing is really suspicious because it started right after I submitted my disability application. I've been keeping a note in my phone with all the numbers and times they called, and there's definitely a pattern - they seem to call most often between 10am-2pm on weekdays. What's really messing with my head is not knowing if I accidentally missed a real EDD worker due to a bad connection. I even called EDD's main line to ask if they had been trying to reach me and got told there were no outbound calls noted on my account. At this point I'm convinced these are either scammers who somehow know we've filed claims, or EDD's phone system is just completely broken. Either way, it's adding so much unnecessary stress to an already difficult process.

Wow, the 10am-2pm pattern is really interesting - I've noticed the same timing on my calls! That actually makes me think it might be legitimate EDD calls with technical issues rather than scammers, since that's typical business hours for government agencies. The fact that you called to check and they said no outbound calls were noted is concerning though. Maybe their system isn't logging failed connection attempts? I'm starting to think we should all document these calls with screenshots and report them as a group to EDD's technical support. If enough of us are experiencing the same issue during the same time window, it might force them to actually investigate and fix whatever's causing these phantom calls.
