Need help with EDD: DE 2525XX forms & reporting job loss with paid vacation - what to expect?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I'm trying to get more DE 2525XX forms for continued medical clearance, and I also need to report that I lost my job but got paid vacation time. My job ended recently and I got a week of paid vacation when I was let go. Anyone been through this before? What should I expect when I call about this?

Ugh, dealing with EDD is always a pain. Make sure you have all your docs ready before you call. They'll probably want to know exact dates for everything.

For real tho 🙄 I swear they make it complicated on purpose

yep, i learned that the hard way. spent hours on hold only to be told i was missing some stupid form

It's like they WANT us to mess up so they can deny our claims 🤔

I've been through this before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD and request the DE 2525XX forms. Be specific about how many you need. 2. When reporting job loss, give them the exact date your employment ended. 3. Make sure to mention the paid vacation time. They'll need to know the duration and when it was paid out. 4. Have your last pay stub ready, they might ask for details. 5. If you had any accrued PTO paid out, mention that too. 6. Be prepared for a long wait time. Their hold times are ridiculous. 7. Take notes during the call, including the name of who you spoke with. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time

yeah, no luck. its like playing the lottery at this point

Quick question - does anyone know if the paid vacation affects your unemployment benefits? I'm in a similar boat and not sure how it works

From what I understand, it can delay when you can start claiming. But don't quote me on that, EDD rules are confusing af

It depends on how its paid out. If its a lump sum, it might not affect it as much as if its spread out over time. Best to ask EDD directly tho

Hey guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

0 coins

Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but I got through in like an hour instead of days of trying

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep

I mean, compared to wasting hours on hold or not getting through at all, it was worth it for me. But yeah, I get it's not for everyone

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 🤦‍♂️

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing 4D chess and we're stuck with checkers

Pro tip: if you can't get the forms online, sometimes local EDD offices have them. Might save you a phone call
