Missed SDI callback - How to update claim now?
Hey everyone, I need to update my SDI claim but I missed the callback from them. Has anyone else had this issue? What should I do now? I'm worried about my claim status and really need to get this sorted out.

Ugh, I've been there. The SDI system is such a pain to deal with. Have you tried calling them back? Sometimes if you call right when they open, you might get through.

•Yeah, it can be hit or miss. But keep trying! Persistence is key with these government agencies 💪

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? Thats kinda steep just to make a phone call...

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit!

•How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

•It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than wasting a whole day trying to get through!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there without actually calling you back. Might be worth a look!

I'm in the same boat, OP. It's so frustrating when you're counting on that callback and then miss it. I've heard they sometimes try calling back a second time if you miss the first one. Maybe keep your phone handy for the next day or two?

•Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely keep my phone close. Did they end up calling you back a second time?

•They did! It was about 3 days later tho, so don't give up hope if it doesn't happen right away.

Here's what you need to do to update your SDI claim: 1. Try calling the SDI office again. Their number is 1-800-480-3287. 2. Call early in the morning, preferably right when they open at 8:00 AM. 3. If you can't get through by phone, try using their online portal at https://edd.ca.gov/disability/ 4. You can also send a message through the online portal asking for a callback. 5. If all else fails, consider visiting an EDD office in person. You can find locations here: https://edd.ca.gov/office_locator/ Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! If you need to update your claim, it's important to keep trying until you get through. Good luck!

•This is great advice. I'd add that if you go in person, bring ALL your paperwork. Better to have too much than not enough!

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're purposely making it difficult so people just give up.

Hey OP, what kind of update do you need to make? Sometimes depending on the type of update, there might be a faster way to do it.

•I need to update my return-to-work date. My doctor extended my leave by another month.

•Ah gotcha. For that, you might be able to just upload the new doctor's note to your online account. Worth a shot before spending hours on the phone!

•Oh really? I didn't know that was an option. I'll definitely try that first. Thanks so much!

pro tip: if u cant get thru on the main line, try calling one of the other language lines and then ask to be transfered to an english speaker. sometimes works for me 😉

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through when you're stuck dealing with state agencies.

•This! My cousin did this and got her issue resolved in like 2 days after weeks of nothing. Definitely worth a shot.

Oh no, missing those callbacks is the worst! I had a similar situation last year. Here's what worked for me: First, definitely try uploading your updated doctor's note through the online portal like others mentioned - that might handle your return-to-work date change without needing to talk to anyone. If that doesn't work, I found that calling exactly at 8:00 AM on Tuesday or Wednesday gave me the best chance of getting through. Also, make sure your voicemail isn't full in case they try calling you back again. Sometimes they do try a second time within a week. Don't stress too much - your claim won't disappear just because you missed one callback. Keep us posted on how it goes!

•This is super helpful advice! I'm new to dealing with SDI and honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole process. It's reassuring to hear that missing one callback won't ruin everything. I'll definitely try the online portal first thing - seems like that might be the easiest route. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly! 😊
