IME request stopped my SDI claim disbursement - what to do?
My claim disbursement just stopped because of an IME request. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not sure what to do next or how long this will take. Any advice on what questions I should ask when I finally get through to someone?

I found a way to solve IME claim disbursement stoppage, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0-UHiDLwLU

Ugh, been there done that. IMEs are such a pain! Here's what you need to know: • Ask why they requested an IME. Sometimes it's routine, sometimes it's fishy. • Find out how it affects your payments. Will they stop completely or just be delayed? • Get clear on what docs you need to provide and when. • Ask about timelines - when can you expect things to get back to normal? • See if there's anything you can do to speed things up. Take notes during your call! And don't let them push you around. Good luck!

•This is solid advice 💯 Wish I had known all this when I went through my IME nightmare last year!

•Quick question - what does IME stand for? I'm new to all this disability stuff 😅

•@profile 3 IME = Independent Medical Examination. Basically, they want another doctor to check you out to verify your condition. It's a whole thing 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

•$20?! That's highway robbery! The system is already screwing us over and now we gotta pay to talk to someone? 😤

•@profile 6 Yeah, it's legit. They use some kind of AI to navigate the phone menus and detect when a human picks up. Saved me hours of hold time. @profile 7 I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was losing my mind trying to get through.

Pro tip: Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. It'll save your butt if things get messy later on. Trust me on this one 👀

•This right here 👆 Learned it the hard way. Now I keep a spreadsheet with all my claim info. Comes in clutch when they try to pull a fast one on you.

Has anyone tried appealing an IME decision? I'm thinking about lawyering up but not sure if it's worth the hassle.

•I did! It was a long process, but I won in the end. If you've got a solid case, it might be worth it. Just be prepared for a lot of waiting and paperwork.

•Careful with lawyers, some of them are just as bad as the system. Make sure you do your research before hiring anyone!

Hey Aisha! I went through the same thing about 6 months ago and it was super stressful. Here's what I learned: First, call them ASAP to get clarity on your specific situation. Ask for a case manager if possible - they tend to be more helpful than the general customer service reps. Key questions to ask: - What triggered the IME request? (sometimes it's just routine after a certain time period) - Will you get backpay for the time your benefits were suspended? - What's the typical timeline for your area? (mine took about 6 weeks total) - Can you request a specific doctor or do they assign one? Also, start gathering ALL your medical records now - the more documentation you have, the smoother the process goes. And yeah, definitely have some backup funds if possible because it can take a while. Hang in there! It sucks but most people do get through it eventually. Feel free to ask if you have other questions! 💪

•This is really helpful, thank you! Quick follow-up question - when you say "case manager," how do I actually ask for one? Do I just say "I want to speak to a case manager" when I call, or is there a specific way to request it? I've never dealt with EDD before so I'm not sure about the proper terminology to use.
