EDD requesting year of paystubs and photo ID - best way to submit and organize?
Hey everyone, I need some advice. EDD is asking me to send them a whole year's worth of paystubs and a copy of my photo ID. Has anyone else had to do this? I'm not sure about the best way to handle it. Should I just email everything or is there a specific process? Any tips on organizing all this paperwork would be super helpful. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all these requirements.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate this EDD maze? Maybe we should start a support group: "EDD Survivors Anonymous" ๐คฃ

Ugh, been there done that. It's a pain in the butt, but here's what I did: 1. Scan everything - paystubs and ID 2. Organize them by month in separate folders 3. Create a PDF for each month 4. Upload them to your EDD account Make sure to keep copies of EVERYTHING. EDD loves to "lose" stuff ๐

โขThis is solid advice. It's always frustrating when they claim they never received documents, so having digital copies saved my sanity.

Has anyone tried faxing the documents? I heard from a friend that sometimes it's faster than uploading online.

Yep, they asked me for the same thing last month. I just emailed everything to them and never heard back. Now I'm worried they didn't get it. Anyone know if there's a way to confirm they received the docs?

If you're looking for a balance of views, EDD's requirements while inconvenient, serve a purpose of fraud prevention. They're tasked with ensuring that the aid goes to the rightful recipients. This unfortunately leads to tedious processes for honest claimants. Tools like Claimyr can be a great resource if traditional means fail. However, weigh the cost against the value and consider its necessity based on your situation. In conjunction, document everything meticulously, and explore all official channels and resources like HR for missing documents. Stay organized using digital tools, and communicate any discrepancies or missing documents upfront to avoid complications.

Here's a detailed guide I put together after going through this mess: 1. Gather all documents: - 12 months of paystubs - Clear copy of photo ID (both sides) - Any additional income docs (1099s, etc.) 2. Organize digitally: - Scan everything (use your phone if no scanner) - Name files clearly (e.g., "Paystubs_Jan2023.pdf") - Create a main folder with subfolders for each month 3. Prepare a cover letter: - Include your full name, SSN, and claim ID - List all documents you're submitting - Explain any missing documents or discrepancies 4. Submission options: a) Online: Upload through EDD website (preferred method) b) Email: Use the secure email feature in your EDD account c) Mail: Send certified mail with return receipt (last resort) 5. Follow up: - Keep proof of submission (screenshots, receipts) - Call EDD after 5-7 business days to confirm receipt - Be prepared to resend if they claim they didn't receive it Remember: Be patient, persistent, and keep copies of EVERYTHING. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

This whole thread is so helpful! I'm in a similar boat - just got the same request from EDD and was totally overwhelmed. Reading through everyone's experiences and tips has made me feel way less alone in this mess. Special shoutout to @KaiEsmeralda for that incredibly detailed guide - you're amazing! One thing I'm curious about: has anyone had success with submitting everything at once versus breaking it up into smaller batches? I'm worried about file size limits but also don't want to flood them with separate emails. Also, for those who've been through this - how long did it typically take for them to review everything once submitted? Thanks again everyone for sharing your experiences. This community is a lifesaver! ๐

โขWelcome to the EDD struggle bus! ๐ From my experience, I'd recommend submitting everything at once if possible - it's easier to track and they can't claim they only received "part" of your documentation. Just compress the files or use a file sharing service like Google Drive if the email attachment limits are too small. As for review time, mine took about 3-4 weeks, but I've heard it can vary wildly. Hang in there! ๐ช

โขHey @Javier Torres! I went through this exact same process about 6 months ago. I'd definitely echo what @Natalie Khan said about submitting everything at once - it really does help with tracking. I actually created a single PDF with all my paystubs organized by month, plus my ID scanned at the end. Used a cover page with my info and a checklist of what was included. For file size, I found that compressing the PDF worked well, but make sure the text is still readable! EDD rejected my first submission because the compression made some numbers too blurry. Review time for me was closer to 5 weeks, but that was during a busy period. One more tip: after you submit, screenshot everything and save confirmation emails. I had to resubmit mine because they claimed they never got it the first time ๐ Good luck!

โข@Javier Torres I just went through this nightmare myself a few weeks ago! Definitely submit everything at once - I made the mistake of sending it in batches and they somehow lost "two" of my emails ๐คฆโโ๏ธ For file sizes, I used a free PDF compressor online to get everything under 10MB per email. Also, pro tip: number your files clearly like (1-Paystubs-Jan-Mar-2023.pdf "so") if they do get separated, it s'obvious what order they go in. Review time was about 4 weeks for me, but I called after week 3 to confirm they had everything. The wait is brutal but hang in there! This community really does help keep you sane through the process ๐

โข@Javier Torres Just wanted to add my two cents! I actually had good luck using the EDD website s'secure message feature instead of email - seemed more reliable and you get confirmation that it was delivered. I split mine into 3 uploads 4 (months of paystubs each because) my scanner app kept crashing with larger files. Make sure to keep the original file names simple - no special characters or spaces. I used format like Paystubs_Jan2023_Chen.pdf "and" it seemed to work well. Review took about 6 weeks for me but I think it was because I was missing one month of stubs initially. Once I provided the bank statement alternative that @Genevieve Cavalier mentioned, things moved faster. Stay organized and don t give'up - we ve all'been there! ๐ค

I just went through this exact process last month! Here's what worked for me: Upload everything through your EDD online account portal if possible - it's way more reliable than email. I organized my paystubs chronologically (oldest to newest) and created one master PDF with clear page breaks between months. For your photo ID, scan both front and back on the same page so they can see it's all one document. Make sure the scan is high quality - they rejected my first attempt because the text was too blurry. Pro tip: Create a simple cover letter listing exactly what you're submitting (12 months paystubs from X date to Y date, photo ID, etc.) with your claim number at the top. This helps them process it faster. The whole review took about 3 weeks for me. Don't panic if you don't hear back right away - they're swamped but they will get to it. Keep copies of everything and screenshot your submission confirmations! You got this! The process sucks but once it's done, it's done. ๐ช

โขThanks for sharing your experience @Wesley Hallow! The cover letter tip is brilliant - I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense. Quick question: when you say "master PDF," did you use any specific software to combine everything? I'm worried about file size limits but also want to keep it organized like you described. Also, did you include any other documents besides paystubs and ID, or was that sufficient for your case?
