EDD requesting employer info - not sure which job they mean. How to check for appeals/hearings?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I recently got a request for employer information, but I'm not sure which job they're asking about. I started a new regular job on January 20th, but I also did some sporadic light work earlier in January that I'm trying to report. Anyone know how I can figure out which one they're referring to? Also, I'm wondering if my employer might have filed an appeal or requested a hearing. How can I check on that? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD system is such a mess 🤦♂️ Your best bet is to call them directly and ask. But good luck getting through - it's like trying to win the lottery these days.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 45 mins on hold that way!

•45 mins? You struck gold my friend. I've been on hold for 3+ hours before 😭

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless waiting. There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep for something that should be free...

•I get the skepticism, but honestly, it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Here's what you need to do: 1. Log into your EDD account and check your inbox. Sometimes they specify which employer they're asking about in the message. 2. If that doesn't work, call the EDD. Be prepared with info for both jobs just in case. 3. For the appeal/hearing question, ask the rep when you call. They can see if anything's been filed. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your online account. It might take a few days, but they usually respond. 5. Keep detailed records of all your work hours and earnings. You might need them later. Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

Have you tried checking your online account? Sometimes they post notices there about what info they need.

•I did, but it wasn't very clear. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and call 😓

Quick question - when you say "sporadic light work," was that self-employment or for another company? It might make a difference in how you report it.

•It was for another company, just very few hours. Like 2-3 hours a week for a couple weeks.

•Ah gotcha. Yea, you definitely need to report that. EDD gets real picky about unreported work, even if it's just a few hours.

Anyone else feel like we need a whole degree just to navigate the unemployment system? 🎓🤔
