EDD payment stuck in qualification - need help ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment payment. It's stuck in qualification and I don't know what to do. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get it moving?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was stuck in qualification hell for weeks. Have you tried calling EDD? That's what finally worked for me.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

•Calling is useless. I tried for days and got nowhere. There has to be a better way!

•It took me like 3 days of non-stop calling. I literally set up my phone to auto-redial. It was insane, but I finally got through around 3 PM on a Wednesday.

•3 days? You got lucky! I've been trying for 2 weeks straight and still nothing. This system is completely broken 😡

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? I'm desperate but don't wanna get scammed.

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was hesitant too, but after weeks of failing to get through, it was worth the $20. Got my issue resolved in one call.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically they have a system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

•Sure! You just go to the website, choose the EDD line, pay, and they start calling. When they get a real person, your phone rings. It's pretty simple.

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there are hidden messages or requests for additional info that can hold up your claim. Worth double-checking!

I've been stuck in qualification for THREE MONTHS now. This system is a joke. I'm about ready to give up. 😡

•Don't give up! Keep pushing. Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help.

I had the same issue last month. Turns out there was a problem with my identity verification. Check if you need to complete any additional steps for ID.me. That might be whats holding things up.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check that out. Did you have to upload any specific documents for the ID verification?

•Yeah, I had to upload my drivers license and a utility bill. Make sure the images are clear or they'll make you do it again 🙄

Here's what worked for me to get my payment unstuck: 1. Double-check all your info in UI Online. Make sure everything is accurate. 2. Upload any additional documents they might need (ID, proof of income, etc.) 3. Use the Contact Us form in UI Online to explain your situation 4. If that doesn't work, try calling using the trick someone mentioned above 5. As a last resort, contact your local assembly member or state senator It's a pain, but keep at it. Good luck!

pro tip: try calling right when they open or about an hour before they close. seems like theres less traffic then and you might have a better chance of getting through

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your UI Online account for any pending tasks or messages. Sometimes they need additional info and don't make it obvious. 2. Verify your identity through ID.me if you haven't already. This is a common holdup. 3. If you've done both of those, you need to speak with a tier 2 representative. They're the only ones who can actually fix issues with your claim. 4. To reach a tier 2 rep, you have a few options: - Keep calling the main number and ask to be transferred to a claims specialist - Try the trick of calling the employer line and asking to be transferred - Use a paid service like Claimyr (as mentioned in another comment) if you're desperate 5. Once you get through, be polite but firm. Ask them to review your claim and explain exactly what's holding it up. 6. If they can't help, ask for a callback from a claims specialist or supervisor. 7. Document everything! Get the name of who you spoke to and any case numbers. Stay persistent. It's a pain, but keep at it and you'll get it sorted. Good luck!

•Quick question - what's the difference between a regular rep and a tier 2? How do you know if you're talking to the right person?
0 coins
Mikayla Brown
•Tier 1 reps can only see basic info and can't make changes to your claim. Tier 2 (or claims specialists) have the authority to actually fix issues. If they start saying they 'can't see' certain info or 'don't have access' to make changes, you're probably talking to a Tier 1.

Hey OP, when did you file your claim? There was a glitch in the system last month that caused a bunch of claims to get stuck. Might be related.

Sofia Perez
•I filed about 3 weeks ago. That could explain it! Do you know if they're fixing the glitch?

•Last I heard they were working on it, but who knows with EDD 🙄 Might be worth mentioning when you get ahold of someone.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you actually qualify? Sometimes people get stuck because they're right on the edge of eligibility. Might be worth reviewing the requirements just to be sure.

Isaac Wright
•That's a fair point. I'm pretty sure I qualify based on my work history, but I'll definitely review the requirements again just to be 100% certain.

I went through the exact same thing a few months ago! Here's what finally worked for me: First, log into your UI Online account and check for any pending items or messages - sometimes they're buried in there. Then, make sure your ID.me verification is complete. If those are good, you'll need to get a tier 2 specialist on the phone. I know calling is a nightmare, but try calling right at 8 AM when they open. Keep hitting redial until you get through. When you do get someone, be super specific about your issue and ask to speak to a claims specialist if the first person can't help. Document everything - names, times, what they tell you. It took me about a week of persistent calling, but once I got the right person, they fixed it in one call. Don't give up! The system is broken but you can get through it. 💪

•This is such great advice! I'm dealing with the same issue right now and was feeling pretty hopeless. The tip about calling right at 8 AM is brilliant - I've been trying random times during the day with no luck. Quick question though - when you say "tier 2 specialist," how do you know if you're talking to the right person? Do they identify themselves differently, or do you have to specifically ask?
