EDD payment extension delay - no word on next auto-payment despite doctor's supplemental cert. What to expect?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I got a payment extension and my doctor sent in a supplemental medical cert, but I'm still waiting on my next payment. I'm on automatic payments, but there's been no word on when I'll get the next one. Anyone else dealing with this? What should I expect with a payment extension?

Ugh, I feel ya. I've been in the same boat. When I had a payment extension, it took about 3 weeks for the next payment to come through. Have you tried calling the EDD? Sometimes they can give you more info.

ā¢3 weeks?! š« That's so long. I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating.

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through then.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

ā¢20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

ā¢It took about 45 minutes total, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when an agent was ready.

The EDD system is such a joke. They expect us to just wait around with no income while they take their sweet time processing everything. It's like they forget we have bills to pay š

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there's updated info there before you get an official notice. Also, make sure all your certifications are up to date.

ā¢Yeah, I've been checking daily. No updates yet. All my certs are done too. guess I'll just keep waiting š

I went through something similar last year. Here's what I learned: ⢠Payment extensions can take 2-4 weeks to process ⢠Make sure your doctor's cert was actually received (call to confirm) ⢠Keep certifying for benefits even if you're not getting paid ⢠If it goes beyond 4 weeks, contact your local assembly member's office ⢠Document everything: dates, times, who you spoke to Hang in there, OP. The system is slow, but it usually works out in the end.

ā¢Faxing? What year is it? š But seriously, I didn't even think of that. Might give it a try if things don't move soon.

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not built to handle real-world situations. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to.

ā¢Preach! š The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers.

ā¢For real. My grandpa could've designed a better system on his commodore 64 š¤£
