EDD call dropped mid-conversation about income reporting - what to do?
Has anyone else had their call with EDD suddenly drop in the middle of the conversation? I was talking to them about some income I reported during a certification period, and the line just went dead. Now I'm worried they might think everything's resolved when it's not. Anyone know what to do in this situation?

PSA: If ur call drops, KEEP CALLING BACK! Sometimes u can get lucky and get right back in the queue. Don't give up!

β’Good call! Sometimes sheer persistence really is the key. I got through on my third try right after a drop.

Here's what you need to do, OP: 1. Keep calling back. I know it sucks, but persistence is key with EDD. 2. Document everything. Write down the date and time of your dropped call, and what was discussed before it cut off. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through your UI Online account. Explain what happened and ask for a callback. 4. If all else fails, contact your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Remember, EDD is swamped right now due to the new fiscal year starting and a bunch of policy changes. It might take some time, but don't give up!

β’Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try sending a message through UI Online. Didn't even think of that.

β’This is solid advice. The assembly member tip is clutch - they helped me resolve an issue last year when I was at my wits end.

Protip: If you're having trouble getting through on the main line, try calling one of EDD's other departments (like disability or paid family leave) and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm!

β’This is such a great hack! It worked for me once when I was getting nowhere on the main line.

Authoritative Comment: It sounds like you're stuck in an incredibly frustrating situation, and unfortunately, you're not alone. The EDD phone system is notorious for dropping calls, and itβs an issue many have faced. As hard as it may be, persistence is key. Continue trying to call back and document every interaction for your records. Utilizing alternative contact methods like UI Online or even faxing as a last resort (using online fax services) can be beneficial. Explaining your situation clearly and asking for a callback can sometimes yield results. Services like Claimyr have been noted for their effectiveness in bypassing the long wait times, but they do come at a cost, so weigh whether the time saved is worth the expense for you. Lastly, reaching out to your local assembly member can be surprisingly effective. They have been able to assist constituents in cutting through red tape in cases where regular channels fail. While EDD is undergoing several changes and updates which may be causing disruptions, staying informed and proactive is your best avenue for resolution. Don't lose hope β continue to advocate for yourself and utilize all available resources.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

β’$20 just to talk to EDD? That's highway robbery! π€

β’I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

β’How long did it take to get through using this service?

β’I tried it myself after reading about it, and I must say, it was surprisingly efficient. It took me about 30 minutes to get through. I understand the frustration about the cost, but for me, it was more about getting things done than the money. Just make sure to weigh your options!

Same thing happened to me last month! I was on hold for like 3 hours, finally got through, and then *poof* - call dropped after 5 minutes. It's like they're playing some sick joke on us.

Hey OP, quick question - when you say they asked about income during a certification period, was this for partial unemployment? I'm dealing with something similar and could use some advice

β’Yeah, it was for partial unemployment. I picked up a few shifts at my old job and had to report it. What's your situation?

β’Similar deal. Worked a couple gigs and now EDD is confused about my eligibility. This whole partial unemployment thing is so complicated!

yall ever think about how much time we waste dealing with EDD? like, we could've learned a new language or smthn instead of being on hold 24/7 π

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be extra glitchy lately? I've heard rumors they're updating their systems. Maybe that's why calls are dropping?

β’Updating their systems? More like downgrading π Everything's been worse since July!

Ugh, classic EDD. Their phone system is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. π I've had calls drop on me too, it's so frustrating!

Yo, this happened to me too! I swear EDD is gaslighting us all π΅βπ« I ended up having to fax them (yes, FAX in 2024 π) to get it sorted. Try that if calls keep failing

This is so frustrating! I've been dealing with EDD for months now and their system is absolutely broken. Last time I called, I waited 4 hours just to have them tell me to call back another department. Then THAT call dropped after 2 minutes! π€ I feel like we're all just screaming into the void at this point. The fact that we have to pay third-party services or resort to faxing in 2024 just shows how completely dysfunctional this whole system is. We shouldn't have to jump through these hoops just to get basic assistance with our benefits! Hang in there everyone - at least we're all suffering together! πͺ
