EDD SDI not paying for all days on doctor's note - missing 2 days of payment
Has anyone else had issues with not getting paid for all the days covered by their doctor's note? I'm so frustrated right now. I got a doctor's note that covered me until the 5th, but I only got paid up to the 3rd. Then I got a new note before the old one expired, but I'm still not getting paid for the 4th and 5th. It's like they're just ignoring part of my doctor's note. Anyone know what I should do? I'm trying to call them but it's impossible to get through.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's not fit for purpose anymore. We're all struggling while they can't even get basic stuff like this right. 😤

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point.

•For real. It's 2023 and we're still dealing with fax machines and hour-long hold times. Make it make sense!

•An overhaul is long overdue. We need a system that actually works.

Have you checked your claim history online? Sometimes it shows pending payments that haven't been processed yet. Might give you some peace of mind if you can see the missing days there.

•Good point. Sometimes the system just takes a little longer to update.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken. I had a similar issue last month where they "forgot" to pay me for 3 days. It's like they're hoping we won't notice or something.

•So true! It's like they rely on people giving up on their claims so they can save money. Keep pushing back!

In response to your question, OP, it seems like there may be an issue with how your documentation is being processed. The EDD often requires all documentation to be submitted in a specific format, and if there is any discrepancy, it can lead to delays in payments. Additionally, there might be a lag between when a doctor's note is submitted and when it is processed by the system. This can result in gaps in the payment coverage. In your case, persistence is key. Continue to reach out through all available channels, including their customer service line, online portal, and even social media if necessary. While Claimyr may seem like an added expense, it's been noted to assist many in bypassing hold times to reach an agent directly. However, it is important to weigh that cost against your personal budget. Document every interaction, as a paper trail is crucial if you need to escalate the matter further. Lastly, contacting a local government official could help in expediting your case through intervention. Keep a close eye on your claim history for any updates and try to remain patient through this challenging process. Good luck!

Have you tried faxing your doctor's note? Sometimes that works better than uploading it online. Make sure you keep copies of everything and document all your calls.

•I didn't even think about faxing it. That's a good idea. Do you know if there's a specific fax number for doctor's notes?

Ethan Moore
•Yeah, it's on their website under "Contact Us". Just make sure to include your claim number on every page you fax!

•I'd also suggest following up with a call if possible, just to ensure they received it. Sometimes things get lost in the shuffle.

Hey OP, sorry youre dealing with this. quick question - did you upload your doctors note to your online account or just mail it in? Sometimes they process the online ones faster.

•I uploaded it online, but maybe I should try mailing a copy too? Can't hurt, right?

•Yeah, might as well cover all your bases. Just make sure you send it certified mail so you have proof they received it!

•Aint that the truth. I swear they just roll a dice to decide how many days to pay us 🎲

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, what? You have to pay to talk to someone about your benefits? That seems sketchy af.

•I know it sounds weird, but it's legit. They just do the hold time for you. Saved me hours of frustration.

•It's a shame that we have to resort to third-party services, but if it helps, it's worth considering.

Not to be that guy, but are you sure you filled out your certification correctly? I once messed up and accidentally said I was able to work on days I was supposed to be covered by my doctor's note. Just double-checking!

•Yeah, I triple-checked my certification. I'm pretty sure I did it right, but thanks for the suggestion!

This happens way too often. It's like they're playing games with our money. I had to fight for weeks to get paid for days covered by my doctor's note. Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep calling every day. It sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Send a message through your online account explaining the situation in detail. 3. Contact your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 4. If all else fails, file an appeal. It takes time, but it's your right. Remember, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every message, every piece of paper. Good luck!

•This is great advice! I'd add one more thing: join a Facebook group for unemployment issues in your state. Those groups often have insider tips and can be really helpful.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My doctor's note covered me through the 12th, but EDD only paid me through the 10th. It's so frustrating because I know the documentation is clear and was submitted properly. I've been trying to get through on the phone for days with no luck. Has anyone found that sending duplicate copies through different methods (online, fax, and mail) actually helps speed up the process? I'm worried about overwhelming them with paperwork, but at this point I'm desperate to get this resolved.

•I'm in the exact same boat! My doctor's note went through the 8th but they only paid me through the 6th. From what I've read in other threads, sending through multiple channels actually does help - it shows you're serious about getting it resolved and creates a paper trail. I'd say go for it, especially with certified mail so you have proof of delivery. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD unfortunately. Have you tried reaching out on social media too? I've seen some people get faster responses that way.
