EDD SDI: Doctor refusing to provide return-to-work note, affecting benefits - Help needed
I need help getting a doctor's note for work but my doctor is refusing to give me one. I saw them earlier this month and now they won't provide the note I need to return to my job. This is causing problems with getting back to work and receiving my benefits. Has anyone dealt with this before? What can I do? I'm thinking about contacting EDD but I'm not sure what to say or how to handle this situation. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Hey OP, have you considered writing a formal complaint to the medical board? Sometimes the threat of official action can make doctors more cooperative.

β’That's a valid point. Doctors might be more inclined to cooperate if they know a higher authority could get involved.

Have you tried turning your doctor off and on again? ππ¨ββοΈ

This is ridiculous! Doctors should understand how important these notes are for people's livelihoods. The whole system is broken if you ask me. π€¬

β’Calm down, Karen. Maybe the doctor has a good reason we don't know about.

β’Maybe a constructive conversation with your doctor might uncover any misunderstandings or concerns they might have?

I've been in the same boat before. Here's what worked for me: I contacted EDD directly and explained the situation. They were actually pretty helpful and gave me some alternatives.

β’That's good to know! Did you call them or email? I'm not sure which is better.

β’I emailed them first with all the details, then followed up with a call. It helped to have everything in writing.

β’That sounds like a solid approach. Having a record of your communication can be crucial if you end up needing to escalate things.

Plot twist: what if the doctor is secretly working for EDD to deny people benefits? π΅οΈββοΈ #ConspiracyTheories

I've been dealing with EDD for months now and it's a nightmare. Good luck getting anyone on the phone. I've spent hours on hold only to get disconnected. π«

β’Agreed with the early morning calls. Also, maybe try using speakerphone so you can go about your day while being on hold.

Ugh, doctors can be such a pain sometimes! Have you tried explaining to them how important this note is for your job and benefits? Maybe if you stress the urgency they'll reconsider.

β’I tried explaining but they still won't budge. Its so frustrating!

β’Maybe try getting a note from a different doctor? Urgent care might be able to help.

β’Persistence pays off sometimes. Maybe a face-to-face discussion might help if you haven't tried that yet.

Hey, I found a method to get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

β’Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of waiting on hold.

β’I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

β’Claimyr seems to be effective, but it's worth considering the cost versus the time saved. For some, the investment may be entirely justified.

Here's a comprehensive guide on how to handle your situation: 1. Document everything: Write down dates of doctor visits, conversations, and any correspondence. 2. Reach out to your doctor's office again: - Explain the urgency of your situation - Ask if there's any additional information they need - Request to speak with a supervisor if necessary 3. Contact EDD: - Prepare a clear, concise explanation of your situation - Ask about alternative documentation options - Inquire if EDD can contact your doctor directly 4. Consider alternative options: - Visit an urgent care or different doctor for a second opinion - Check if your employer's HR department can assist - Look into telemedicine options for a quick consultation 5. Know your rights: - Research your state's laws regarding medical notes for work - Consider contacting a workers' rights organization for advice Remember to stay calm and persistent. Document all your efforts. If you're still struggling, consider reaching out to your local representative for assistance with EDD. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Pro tip: Draft an email to EDD explaining your situation. Be concise but include all relevant details. Here's a template I used: Subject: Urgent Assistance Needed - Doctor's Note for Return to Work Dear EDD Representative, I'm writing to seek guidance regarding a doctor's note issue. I recently visited a doctor who is now refusing to provide a note for my return to work. This is causing delays in resuming my employment and receiving benefits. Could you please advise on: 1. Alternative documentation I can provide 2. Whether EDD can contact my doctor directly 3. Any other steps I should take Thank you for your assistance. [Your Name] [Contact Info] Hope this helps!
