How to add doctor's note to EDD file? Stuck on hold forever!

Hey everyone, I need to get a doctor's note added to my EDD file. Anyone know how to do this? I've been waiting on hold forever and can't seem to get through to anyone. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is such a nightmare to navigate. Have you tried faxing it? I heard that sometimes works better than trying to get someone on the phone.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot if I can't get through on the phone.

Faxing actually worked for me! Just make sure to include your claim number and SSN on every page. Good luck!

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to get through to someone.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can confirm, I used it last week. Got through in about an hour. Way better than sitting on hold all day.

Here's what I did to get my doctor's note added: 1. Call the EDD main line as soon as they open (8 AM) 2. Choose the option for existing claims 3. When prompted, say you need to speak to a tier 2 specialist 4. Once you get a real person, explain you need to add medical documentation 5. They'll give you a fax number or email address to send it to 6. Follow up in 3-5 business days if it's not reflected in your account Hope this helps! It took me a few tries, but I finally got it sorted.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local assemblymember's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things through faster.

This! My assemblymember's office was a game changer. Got my issue resolved in a week after months of nothing.

Wow, I had no idea this was an option. Thanks for the tip!

Another option that worked for me was using the EDD's online portal to upload documents. If you have an account set up on their website, there's usually a "Submit Documents" section where you can upload your doctor's note directly. Make sure to save a copy of the confirmation screen as proof of submission. It's way less stressful than trying to get through on the phone, and you have a digital record of when you submitted it.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I didn't even know there was an online portal option. Way better than sitting on hold for hours. Thanks for mentioning the confirmation screen tip too - that's smart thinking!

I had success uploading through the online portal too! Just wanted to add that if you're having trouble finding the upload section, look for "My SDI Online" or "Disability Insurance" in your account dashboard. Sometimes the navigation can be confusing. Also, make sure your doctor's note includes your full name, date of birth, and the specific dates you're unable to work - EDD is really picky about having all that info clearly stated. Saved me from having to resubmit!

This is so helpful! I've been struggling to find the right section in the portal. The "My SDI Online" tip is a lifesaver - I was looking everywhere except there. And good point about making sure all the details are included in the doctor's note. Better to get it right the first time than have to go through this whole process again!

Just wanted to share my recent experience - I actually had luck calling right at lunchtime (around 12:30 PM) when I think fewer people are calling. Got through to someone in about 45 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hours. The rep told me they can also accept documents via secure email if you ask for it - they'll send you a special encrypted email address to use. Might be worth trying that route if the online portal isn't working for you. Also, make sure your doctor's note is on official letterhead - they're apparently really strict about that now.
